Yes I know what you mean. Been there.

Lawyers are good at finding loopholes. Maybe you will get some good news.

It also occurred to me that your kids likely don't have passports. It would be very difficult for your wife to get them without your presence. They make it that way so parents can't steal kids in a separation.

No, my kids don't have passports. When would you recommend starting Plan B? She is totally cake-eating right now I guess...

You haven't even done Plan A yet. I don't have any brilliant ideas but I'm still thinking. I would work hard to get tax advice and see if there is any way you can leave now and still claim the FEIE. That would be my top priority. If you do find that there is a way you can leave now, I'd go home. You're pretty well hamstrung where you are.

Have you exhausted all your exposure candidates?

I have been doing Plan A for a month and a half, I guess I just am getting ahead of myself...

It is impossible to do Plan A from half way around the world. Sorry. It just can't be done.

Well then, do I just cut her off and let her see what she is missing?

I'm not going to offer an opinion on that. I really haven't been keeping up with your threads closely enough to have an idea. Why don't you wait a few hours until the US wakes up and get some idea from others.

As I said before, what you really should do as get home as quickly as possible (whenever that will be) and do your best Plan A. Things could become unrecoverable before then. That's my fear so it may not be the best plan. Let's see if Mr. W will give an opinion on the FEIE issue. If you do get a favorable reply, at least it will give you more options to consider.

Don't make any rash decisions. I haven't forgotten about you. I'm off to Bahrain in the AM for a couple of days with no internet. Back on Wednesday.
