I grew up on the "Quebec side" but in very close proximity to Ottawa. Spent many Canada Days on the Hill with a gazillion other people.

I even worked in downtown Ottawa and was working one Canada Day and some bozo set the building's dumpster on fire... that was an adventure!

The world gets smaller every day! I went to school in Hull From Chelsea originally, my Mom still lives there!

I haven't been there in 7 years since I moved - my Mom wants me to come home for a visit, but I haven't been able to make some time off - it all depends on XH and he's got other "priorities" at the moment

If he'd got *his* vacation plans straight, I could have been there now - I could have gone Friday night, back Wed night... oh well... there'll be another opportunity soon, I hope.

JinGA! Ah's bowan in Dalton, Georgia, Carpet Capital of the World!
I'm now in "northern" Ontario, eh? It's called "northern" but it's south of some parts of the US - Sudbury. So I'm in your home province, and you're in my home state. lol I met H in Toontown, so if you know where that is (has berries) then you know Sudbury is not what I'd call "north", even if ah was born in Gawja.

Dalton is about an hour north of me - I'm in Canton

I hear ya on the "northern" thing, folks call it "up north"... well when I was a kid, we knew an Inuit family - they were from "up north"... meaning they were from north of the 60th parallel (there used to be a TV show in Canada called "North of 60".

Up north - well there's not much civilization north of the big nickel!

I've never been up there, but my XH when he was young and crazy and had a butt you could bounce a quarter off... ***salivate*** oops... umm anyway he cycled from Brantford (near Toronto) to North Bay in 3 days. If my memory serves, North Bay isn't too terribly far from Sudbury.

How's the air up there? Sudbury isn't exactly terribly eco-friendly... smog I've heard can be awful.
