Pep,
Happy Birthday!
Your thread reminded me of a high school teacher I had...can't remember his name...who shares this birthday. He was telling us about it because of the portentious date that year for it...7/7/77.
What were you doing that day?
His name didn't stick in my memory...nor what I learned in English from him...not really much of what he looked like. Yet I have thought of his birthday about ten times over the years...
Why?
'Cuz I was born on the 7th, too. Not of July, mind you.

Kinship...I can find the tiniest trace of it and connect.
My wish for you today is to laugh seven times so hard, your nose runs.
A facial workout. Snotty exercise. Mucus marathon.

3 hours until the World Hoop Day jam in East Park. My hoop is blue, green, and yellow. I have to figure out what to wear. It's allegedly 84 degrees out there. High is supposed to be 90. I will need to dress lightly and take water. (The rest of the hoopers make me look like dowdy. Most hoopers are non-conformists. Me,...I'm a somewhat eclectic traditionalist.)
Pep, Happy Birthday! My day is later this month.

WW called me at my midnight. It was still 07/07/07 for her. She called to tell me that she had been pickpocketed. She lost her favorite pocketbook with all her money, photos, her "portable church" (with all her prayers and sayings), her company ID, and her green card.
The good news as that she is safe although in tears all day long. But, over all, not the luckiest of days.

Wow, she was mugged.
If someone stole my purse I would be wayyyyyyy mad and sad at the same time. I'd be scrambling my brain trying to remember what was in it. The personal items (pictures, etc.) would be the worse loss.
Hope she's okay. Jo

No she was pickpocketed. She didn't even realize it had happened until she went to pay for something. Later at the house, DD1 went to her and said Mommy could have her seven pesos she had been saving.

I just checked Burberry online and the pocketbook she had is not available. The nearest Burberry store is in Riyadh and I don't really want to go there. I know a woman's pocketbook is a very personal thing but I was thinking about getting her a new pocketbook and filling it with photos and sending it to her by DHL.
I'm on the fence here. Suggestions? I have gone back through six years of photographs and selected a cull list just in case. I'm not sure how she would take it though.

But it is very kind of you to think and try. You get a [color:"yellow"]GOLD STAR[/color] for even going as far as you did.

Thats really sweet and thoughtful of you, Pio. I vote you do it! I'm sure she'd love it. Big lovebank deposit. Here's a tip from an avid on-line shopper (which is an addiction in of itself). Go back to the Burberry site and grab the sku/part/serial number. Then plunk that, along with a brief product description, into a search engine. Google if you prefer, but I use DogPile as well. You can also try eBay, but be warned they have blackmarket/imposter written all over the Prada/Gucci designer-level type products. Orrr, you can call the store in Riyadh and have them FedX it to you. Hope this helps. Jo

Well I went to the mall today and scoured and I think the style she had is outdated. I did get Givenchy light brown leather outside with red leather inside and red stitching on the outside. I think she'll like it. I just printed out 36 photos all cropped and reduced to the size of business cards. Now I'm working on a nice note to put inside. I want to tell her that nobody can steal our memories. The photos are really great. I'll DHL it as soon as BIL gives me the address which hopefully will be tomorrow.

Thats awesome! And this: I want to tell her that nobody can steal our memories. ... could make her well up. Also, the best way to approach this from your side of things is try to have no/low expectations regarding her reaction. Like you said, a woman's pocket book is a very personal item. If she doesn't get all gooey over this jesture, don't take it personal. I expect she will love it, but just in case. Jo

try to have no/low expectations regarding her reaction I won't even be there. I'll never see it. How about that for low expectations!

That flys.
But the next time you're in contact with her (email, phone), same applies.

I'm not doing it for a reaction. I'm doing it because I love her and I hope it makes her feel a little bit better. I really don't care if she never mentions it.
I called her tonight to see how she was feeling and to tell her that I had downloaded some info for her about the green card and sent it by email. She hasn't made a police report yet and I urged her to do that. Without that report, we are in problems. Well...bigger problems. I'm also going to be in problems over her loss of the company ID. DD1 wanted to talk to me. She asked if I was mad at Mommy. Just breaks your heart. WW seems in much better spirits today. I'm off to sleep. I didn't get much sleep last night and I'm beat.
