I hope all MBers, members and annoymous visitors, in Minnesota are okay and not involved in the I35W bridge collapse last night.
God bless and comfort all those who have been hurt, their families, and those working to aid and assist the injured in this tragedy.

Glad to hear you're ok, WhoMe. Last night I kept freaking out over the image of that school bus so close to the edge.

My XH called me yesterday about half an hour after it happened. He's in St. Paul on business. I didn't know it had happened but he called me to let me know he was OK but stuck in traffic. He was late leaving the office, by the grace of God. I'm not sure if he was headed over the bridge but I think he might have been. His first time to that city - he went over the bridge on Monday.
I'm very glad he's OK... that was too close.
I too, pray for the victims and their families - what a horrible tragedy.

Ace and Who,
Most of my family came from South Minneapolis. All my grandparents and closest aunts and uncles are buried there. Four generations of my family went to Roosevelt High School in South Minneapolis. I still have cousins and aunts and uncles spread around up there. I even have a pair of cast iron/wooden seats from the old Metropolitan Stadium in my garage. My favorite cousin was the Manager of Concessions there back in the 70’s and I got into a bunch of Twins and Viking games through the back door. Rod Carew, Harmon Killabrew, Fran Tarkenton, Chuck Foreman, Allen Page; all big heroes of my youth.
My immediate family moved to Colorado in 1967 but my ties have been strong there all my life and I have returned for visits and vacations countless times.
My mother died here in Colorado last September and I have her ashes. DD19 and I hope to return them to the family farm in central Minnesota this fall. This was the place where my mother had the happiest times of her life with her mother.
Wayzilla also loved Minnesota (she is a native Coloradan) and was very fond of my family there. We had many really great trips involving cabins on the North Shore of Lake Superior and the ever popular Minnesota State Fair. They take their fair very seriously in Minnesota. These were some of the best times of our marriage.
None of those people ever want to see her or hear of her again. Waywards chose to lose a lot for their new life of unbridled entitled happiness.

Every time I see pictures and hear stories it makes me so sad. They have decreased their estimates of the number of people still missing. I heard on CNN yesterday that they were searching for a woman and found her at her job the next day. They found her car and listed her as one of the missing. She obviously had made it to safety, but didn't check in with anyone. The stories of the suviviors are being released. I can't even imagine. Guardian angels were there with these people, IMO anyway. I know a woman who's husband crossed the bridge literally 5 min before it collapsed. I am an original Minnesotan from way down in Austin! So you're originally from Spam Town, USA.
