Where is the missus? I've missed her posting here, and have been worried. I know she just went through her dad dying and hope that things are okay.

ahhh...I "wondered" if our absence would be noticed.
We've been in Northern Michigan for a loooong weekend and then we are preparing for a trip to Florida (via Atlanta) next week.
Pretty hectic here catching up and trying to get ahead of the paperwork, laundry, unpacking, packing, school preparations...plus our daughter is at home for the next week (no more camp) so we likely won't be around here much at all.

I KNOW..
Michigan summers are perfect.
Up north...it was 84 to 85 degrees 4 days in a row and cooled to 65-70 at night on the lake.
People travel the world to enjoy Michigan summers (think Mackinac Island).
So what do we do...go to Florida in freaking August.
I guess a lot of Georgians and Alabamamian's hit the coast to escape the mugginess of the cities in August or something as that is when my wife's Atlanta family always went to Florida. I think it's nuts but I'm game for a vacation anyway. Besides her mom needs it after losing her mother, husband and brother (who died this past Monday) in the course of only 3 months.
Still...I wish they'd just come here. I know if we all lived in Florida we'd all dream of a vacation to Northern Michigan or even God Forbid, Canada, this time of year. I'd tolerate the goofy money they use up in Canada over triple digit temperatures, thunderstorms every afternoon and humidity so thick your shoes get soggy seconds after puttin'm-on.
One consolation...we'll be in NORTHERN Florida. Panama City/Destin area...the Redneck Riviera. Won't be hard to find me...I'll be the Greek boy in the soggy shoes.

I'm HERE...Thanks for asking! Just been REALLY busy preparing for all the travel as Mr. W said...We found a new church that we all really love and that has been great! Our DD and I started grief counseling as well, it's all been pretty hectic...
Also my mom just suffered another loss on August 6th, she lost her last brother to cancer...his funeral was today-she originally had 5 brothers...That makes 3 major losses for her in a VERY short period...Her mom on May 25th, my dad on June 27th and now this...I've been in close contact with her and she will be going with us on vacation thankfully...JinGA, so sorry about losing touch with you about the get together in Atlanta...It looks like it's not gonna happen this time...My mom really needs me when I get there...Next time though for sure...
On a up note, Mr. W and I will be celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary next week...August 16th!!! Definitely cause for celebration and thanksgiving!
Hopefully we'll be around from time to time...If not, we'll be back in September when school starts and things settle down...
Thanks again for asking believer, that was very sweet of you and I really appreciate it!

So glad you are OK. Folks went missing on Aug. 1 but on your history, I saw where you (Mr. W.) had last posted in the evening after the MN bridge collapse. Glad Believer prompted you to check in.
We're praying for your family, especially your mom, Mrs. W. [color:"red"] And Happy 10th Anniversary[/color] next week.

Mr. Wondering Hey now - don't you go insulting my homeland's currency! It may look different but it spends the same! BTW - it's been stinkin' hot in Canada too... my mom broke down and got central air this past week - after 40 YEARS in the same house. JinGA

Insulting your currency???????
loonies and toonies...need I say more....Check please
Jin...Mrs. W mentioned that with the death of her mother's brother this week she doesn't antipate going out with anyone next week. She wants to spend all her time there with her mother and doesn't want to go all that way to say "hey...we are going out for fun tonight".
Perhaps...when we heading back to Michigan from Atlanta on the 26th (I believe) we MAY be up for a pitstop for lunch. We also head done there quite a bit and can certainaly get together on a future trip under more normal circumstances. We may even be moving there in the next year!!!

Mr. W, (nice to "meet" you, BTW!)
My sincere apologies. I was unaware that Mrs. W's uncle had passed. My condolences all around. Of course it would not be appropriate to go out and have fun... I completely understand. Family comes first *always*.
Let me pull my foot out of my mouth here...
If not on this visit, perhaps at a more appropriate time. Mrs. W and I have emailed - sounds like you're heading back to my neck of the woods - albeit not my neighbourhood (and yes that's how *I* spell it!). If and when you do get moved back here, we'll be close by.
If lunch is doable - I'm game. Might be tough for me (depending on the time) as I work that day and XH (who co-owns the biz with me) is on vacation from 4:00 today til the 26th so I might not be able to sneak out if it's after one - so like I said - no worries - we'll get together at some point, when the time is right.
Again, my condolences to the family. God bless.
