I would just like some input to my situation. I am almost divorced (got final heaing date). Moved out May of 06 from a phenomenaly bad situation. Wife turned passive aggresive, sister in law moved in with her dogs and was just as bad. It got to the point D was the only way. I have kept on with my life; still Navy Reserve, recently diagnosed as Adult ADHD but I have known that all my life. Wanted to get meds so I could keep on task. That was my biggest problem. It wrecked my social life but I am going to rebuild that. Recently started a Men's Bible Study at church and work is going decently. The meds will give me a big improvement there too. I guess I just want things to move faster than they are. I think it is a problem with Adult ADHD people. I have not gone dating frankly because I am not ready for it and need to concentrate on myself. It's hard after 16 years of having an "other" even though I have been seperated for little short of a year and a half. I guess I am just restless. Is this normal for this "stage"?
I have to relearn the social games. I have no talent or patience to go through that social game playing that is the communications code humans use to check each other out. I just don't see the point because you are eventually going to have to reveal your true self. It seems like a waste of time. I would rather see the real person up front. That would actually be a big plus for me whether it is friendship or something else. I guess I am just frustrated.

This is perfect for the Relationships after Divorce. And not unusual. Datine in 2007 is different because of the internet. Almost everyone tries online dating at one time or another. And you'd be amazed at the number of profiles that say "I don't play games." Or "I don't like people who play games."
Mostly, that seems to mean they don't like people who decide after a couple of emails or dates that they (the respondants) don't like them.
I think people should be who they are, but not all at once. I've tried to all at once, and often that strains a relationship by escalating the intimacy too quickly. I also think too much exposure early on is perceived as desperation. Just my 2 cents, and probably worth less than that.
Anyway, I think restlessness is pretty common at 1.5 years of separation.

Thank you for the response. I agree about "not coming out all at once" but it takes being exposed to different situations to gauge if you are, at least, comfortable with each other. I am just going to chill until the restlessness diminishes or leaves. See ya 'round the forums.
