My husband and I have been married for less than a year and we are expecting our first child together. My husband has always had a temper problem and I knew this before we got married. However, he promised to work on it and ever since recently, he has been doing a good job. He has been going to church, reading the bible, and finding other things to do instead of letting his temper get the best of him. However, recently he has been reverting back to his old ways. For example, yesterday he couldn't find his work boots so he started yelling at me, asking me where I put them. I told him I did not touch them. He then pushed me on the couch and yelled some more. He didn't push me hard, and I didn't get hurt, but it shocked me because it was the first time he has ever gotten physical.
I do not want a divorce because I believe we can work this out. I don't even think we're near the divorce point anyway. However, he told me last night that if I were to divorce him, he would get custody of our child when he's born because I don't have a job. I could tell he was joking around, but I don't know what to think about that. I don't want a divorce, but I am afraid that he might want to leave and take the baby. Why else would he say that? I know that divorce is not something to joke about. I wonder if he really wants a divorce?

I would INSIST that he go to some anger management counseling. Pushing a pregnant woman - and I don't care if he didn't push you "hard", is unexcusable.
