I called my husband this afternoon to see how his afternoon was going. When he answered he sounded really down, I immediately asked him what was wrong. He started crying and said, "I watched someone die a few minutes ago."
I was floored! That was the last thing I expected to hear. He said he arrived at a jobsite and the homeowner came out to talk. As they were talking they looked across the street and saw a man laying on the sidewalk on his stomach. The homeowner expressed concern that it looked like the guy wasn't moving. So my husband walked across the street and sure enough the guy wasn't breathing.
My husband called 911 on his cell and the operator told him to roll the guy over, open his mouth and tilt his head back. She said to check if there was anything in his mouth. There wasn't. She then told him to start doing chest compressions (400X). My husband had to lay the phone down but started doing them. The ambulance and the police arrived and pronounced the guy dead. My husband was so upset. He said that he had never felt so helpless in his whole life. It turns out the guy was the homeowner's neighbor and was only around 35 years old.
He said, PM, I prayed that God would perform a miracle, but it didn't happen. He is so distraught. I'm going home to hold my husband! He is devastated. You just never know do you?

May the love hidden deep inside your heart find the love waiting in your dreams. May the laughter that you find in your tomorrow wipe away the pain you find in your yesterdays.

No, you never know....you just never know.
Last year, I was one of several training to walk a half marathon. My coach and mentor were both CPR trained and were ahead of many of us. They got to a pedestrian bridge over a river. There was a man lying on the bridge. They turned him over and started CPR which they kept up till the ambulance arrived. They were still bagging him and compressing him when they got him in the ambulance. A handsome, fit young man.
The next day we found out, from reading the newspaper, that the man was a 29 year old former Green Beret training to run a marathon the following week. He didn't make it.
I have been in several accidents where I expected to die...Just didn't believe there was any walking away.
God has a plan for me.
