It seems first responders across the US and the world have been or are being trained to look in your cell phone for whom they should contact in case of emergency (otherwise known as "ICE"). You are to place within your cell phone contacts a listing such as: ICE1-WIFE, Heather (313)ccc-xxxx ICE2-MOM, Sally (313)xxx-jdoh ICE3-BRO, Jim (313)xca-joasd I just went to wikipedia and cut this information regarding the ICE concept: Quote In Case of Emergency, or ICE, is a program that enables first responders, such as paramedics, firefighters, police officers, to identify victims and contact their next of kin to obtain important medical information. The program was conceived in the mid-2000s and promoted by British paramedic Bob Brotchie in May 2005. It encourages people to enter emergency contacts in their cell phone address book under the name ICE; alternatively, if a person has multiple emergency contacts, they can be listed similarly to the following: ICE1-Mom, ICE2-Dad, ICE3, etc. The popularity of the program has spread across Europe, and has started to grow into North America. So program those phones. Mr. Wondering

MrWondering Member M Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 6,025 USA	Just found THIS: Quote Word of Caution . Scammers find or steal a cell phone and look for the ICE number is the latest scam. They know that person usually knows the personal information for the person who owns the phone. They call and say they are with the hospital/etc and need information about the person so they can emergency treat them/etc. name, address, SSN, etc. The person on the other end gives the info and it's gone. ICE only works if the person knows what to say "Give me your phone number so I can call you back with the information." This is the latest scam and thought you should alert your ICE names of this, that they have been added to your cell phone and beware of this scam, if asked for emergency personal information about you to verify with call back before giving out. FledTheState Member F Joined: Feb 2007 Posts: 690	I've never heard of this but we have used peoples cell phones and looked up the last call they made or had made to them. This is better. And the only information you should give is the cell phone owners first name, drug allergies, and any serious medical conditions. You can always do this after calling the hospital back on a land line.
