I am fascinated by what you do with the written word. I ALWAYS read your posts to see your take on things. Just out of curiosity, can you take someone's writing and decipher their "makeup" (for lack of a better word)? Sorta like a profiler would do?

MM is not equal to BA.

Ruled that one out. MM spells and uses much better grammar, punctuation, and logic than BA. MM has seemlying more familiarity with what the arguments of MB supporters would be, is obviously a mature thinker. Also, would be a much better liar if so desired. MM is not prone to lying behavior so much as stating MM's own mind - although lots of people don't like to hear it. Also, haven't so much seen MM make up very strange stories as state MM's own opinions and provoke "the other side" of ideas.

See, MM, I'm not all that bad. Science is what it is.

SORRY GUYS - AFTER I HIT ENTER, I HAD TO LEAVE REALLY QUICK, AND WHEN I LEFT I REALIZED MY NEXT THING SAID "BA" WHEN I WAS THINKING ABOUT YANKEE.....SO I CAME BACK AND EDITED THIS TO FIX IT. NOW IT SHOULD MAKE SENSE!!!!

YANKEE appears to me to be likely a young person, and in my own opinion may be more than one person writing together at the board. The script seems to follow an old movie combined with some recent news stories. While the claim is made that a 7th grade education exists, the writing is inconsistent with that claim, and indications of efforts made to limit punctuation and spelling to a much more reduced level. For example, children in first and second grade have the knowledge that the word "I" is capitalized. They do not make this mistake, EVER. My experience with learning disabled, cognitive impaired, memory impaired, mentally retarded, and other people consistently reveal that this error is nearly nonexistant once taught. Yet, through the seventh grade, YANKEE NEVER LEARNED THIS????? Extremely difficult to believe. Sorry. Deceptive flag, and in all indications, this is the first and lead flag for me with regard to YANKEE.

There are many others I could point out, such as the semantic content. The example "rill" is a current slang pronunciation of "real" in many areas (note: it is moving out in urban areas and while in higher use in the more rural areas will likely begin to be replaced there as well with the more urban slang on the rise), and used by teenage girls in particular. The use of "rill" raises question to me because in the case of a questioned origin of written document, the semantics are very telling. In this case, this particular word gives me some information, as you can see.

"Rill" makes me think this:

teenage girl usage of term

likelihood of deceptive user attempting to disguise information

who would be highest target age range of persons likely to know term, utilize this forum for "kicks", and utilize the rest of the semantic content, without the knowledge of how to fake grammar, spelling, mathematics of the age of the children, use a movie as background, etc.????

likelihood target persons utilizing deception:

late teenage girls
late teenage boys
17-20

possibly later aged people with less education or who have history of poor academic achievement

possibly later aged people with underemployment or still living at home with parents and underemployed/unemployed

That's how my "thing" works, with lots of stuff in between.

"Profiler"?????????

Never thought of it that way. I just do science stuff here. It has to do with analysis of the content of the language, probabilities of the use of certain sets of words, trends of use of words in certain population sets, movements of words through the population, elimination and rise of use of words and phrases within the population, and the same processes in terms of use of thought/ideas within the population.

This is one really fascinating world. If you watch, you can see one idea work its way through the world, or one new word work its way across the country. You hear it on the news or see it in a movie, and watch it work its way through people down to four year olds. Wow.

Can I profile someone's personality? I never thought about that. I don't think so. I suppose I can capture what they were thinking and feeling for that one moment in time. If I had their writing over time, I could say lots about them, sure. I don't know that I could "profile" them like a criminal profiler.

But I sure set my boss back the other day. We had a

second "talk". She was very different from the first "talk".

There wasn't any Bull this time around. This time around, she told the truth. I think she got my point, and now understands what she pays me for......

;-)

This is absurd. Your analysis of me is all over the place and naturally, inconsistent and contradictory. Please stop your obsession with me.

Or else????

SB...

Couldn't the use of lower case "i" and other like uses of abbreviations (including even "rill" which is easier to type on a phone than "real") language be part of the obsession with text messaging?

Further...I speculated english was beast advisor's second language and that he/she could be of asian descent (I got this more from the BA language posted on loveshack than here).

What you think???

Mr. W

p.s. - how can you place so much emphasis on one or two particular words when the simpliest explanation may be that it was just a typo. I'm highly educated but my "left brainedness" causes me to miss-type & misspell even very common simple words (including the word mispell) left and right. Further...I don't care. Even upon proof reading I don't feel it's necessary for me to go back and edit the small errors where many others would feel compelled to do so.

I do not believe that SB places SO much emphasis on one or two words. But when you are doing analysis, and are well-trained, as SB IS, then the errors you talk about, are immaterial to the discussion. It's the random error of fingers that can't keep up with the brain. However, the errors that SB sees, and discusses, are in fact patterns, that can be used to reveal the attributes of the poster.

Just like I'm sure that SB can determine from my posts that I am good-looking, above-average in intelligence, and smells good. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

And I believe that SB WAS deciphering yankee's posts, and not BA1's, at least on THIS thread. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

Please check my edits - I started out thinking about the comparison of MM to BA, and accidentally carried BA's name into the analysis to Yankee. My error.

Apologize to BA for that part of the error.

I do not apologize for the comments about BA's differences in logic and grammatical use in comparison to MM's, however. There are significant differences in the way you two think and convey your ideas to others. Specifically, MM has more knowledge of MB concepts, whereas BA does not. BA entered "green", and has attempted to learn through the postings of others and utilizing the web-based information. MM has some external information.

BA has some emotional involvement in extramarital entanglements, which have NOT YET been discussed by BA.

I personally find that very interesting, as that certainly marks BA as one of the following:

a troll

an OW who is searching for her MM

an OW who is searching for her MM's BS

an OW who believes her MM and his W are on MB

or someone who has some entanglement in this type of situation and has an EN for help and has no ability to ASK for it outright out of FEAR?????

What are you afraid of disclosing, BA?

I'm not obsessed with you, BA. I am weary of you giving out advice not based on MB principles, bringing up really old threads to stir up problems between people who are on their way to resolving their problems, and failing to educate yourself on the basic ideas of the founders of these boards before you give out the "best" advice.

So, as is my nature, I look at what you have to say, and since I do what I do, I cannot help but see what I see.

That's all.

Mr. Wondering,

Regarding the analyses of a writing sample. Certainly we take into account typographical errors. That's part of the job. It goes into our thinking, part and parcel. In fact, if the same error appears often enough, it can lead to help us to identify a person as the origin of a writing, in combination with other factors.

For example, the consistent use of "i" in that form might help us in combination with other errors. Let's say a person uses "i", and the spelling "marraige" consistently throughout five letters. Then, I find a sixth letter with "i" usage, and the word "carraige" in it. What's the likelihood of that same person writing that sixth letter? It just went up, due to that dipthong error.

Now, let's say that in 3/5 of the letters there was a phraseology similar to "Taking my money while i can". It also shows in the sixth.

Odds improve.

Then let's say the opening statements have similar syntactic structure. Paragraph structure is similar. There are comma errors that occur, or comma usage is the same.

See what I mean? This goes on and on. When I look at BA or Yankee or MM, whoever it may be, I LOOK at them. I go back to the very first post. And work my way forward, in chronological order.

They GET ANALYZED.

I don't base this on one post, or two, in most cases. Some folks are quite easy, however. Yankee, for instance. Not too many posts, lots of red flashing lights.

MM, been around here awhile.

BA, not been around too long. Older person than Yankee. More emotional than MM. Angry, though, and hurting.

Hope that helps.

SB
