PK, you would find the book of Hosea very interesting. It makes the God as BS role very clear to understand.
He told Hosea to go marry a harlot. Hosea did, and she kept leaving him for other lovers. Hosea would go after her and bring her home, she would stay for a little, then leave again.
God told Hosea this was because Israel had had many lovers, and left Him again and again. He portrayed Himself as the betrayed husband, seeking out the unfaithful lover and trying to win her back. It wasn't all lovey-dovey, either. God said He would hedge up her way (when she was unfaithful) with thorns, so that she would see she was better off at home with her husband.
They even ended up having children with each other. Very interesting story.

Well, MEDC … I’m not sure how rigid a standard you’re going to carry for sig line quotes ….. Harriet Taylor (who was married at the time) carried on an EA for TWENTY ONE YEARS with John Stuart Mill before her husband died. The relationship was reportedly physically chaste but emotionally intimate. Taylor was a famous liberal feminist of her era, writing about the need for women to establish less formal relationships, socially (which she apparently did do…) John Stuart Mill married her immediately one year after the required mourning period had passed (in 1861). I *think* I'm safe with my sig. -- BK Nietzsche, however, is still dead....SAFE!

(((((MEDC)))))))) with apology! Really, I was trying to make a joke in a way, and I meant no harm. I kept thinking of the evening that you recanted your quote on Albert Einstein saying he was a "worthless POS in my eyes" because he had committed adultery ... I guess my point was, it is really terribly difficult to put ourselves in other peoples' shoes, and to make appropriate judgements about them, and the way they live (and livED) their lives. If we decided to only utilize the contributions of people who were consistently pure, and pure of heart, our lives would consist of very little, indeed! I was certainly not trying to re-open an argument ... I was trying to join a joke about sig lines, but my effort flopped -- sorry! Sweet
