I smoked a ham and made a huge potato salad for our Thanksgiving dinner here at my new job last night.
I was so surprised that nobody here can really cook, being in the south and all, so I volunteered to fire up my smoker and cook a whole ham when I went home last night.
I am the only southerner here at work in Atlanta of all places.
My ham and potato salad are absolutely perfect and smelled absolutely awesome when I brought them in at 6:00am this morning.
To have all the women swoon over your southern cooking is a definate ego boost.
I've had compliment after compliment over what my wife would merely just say "yeah, it's edible" or "I've had better".
I'm afraid that there will be no leftovers from a 10lb ham and 8lbs of potato salad.
I did at least make my GF a ham sammich before she went to bed so she would know I didn't forget about her, it was waiting in her lunch bag this morning. I promised to smoke another before Christmas and it would be all our's and we'll bring the leftovers for our co-workers.
So far, I am the hero of the day!
Good feeling to be liked, especially after your wife only ever beat you down and made you think you were a loser.

The ham and potato salad put up a good fight, but in the end they succombed to the repeated attacks of my cow-orkers.
There's nothing left but the pans.
Best sight I've seen all day.
