Disease

Sexually transmitted disease is something no one thinks about
when they first receive the "affair news."
But reality soon sets in to the mind in shock
and it wanders down this avenue.

How could this happen? My mind begins racing.
Will my children grow up without a mother?
Do I have the diseases he caught from them
and they in turn caught from others.

Sin is no respector of persons they say
it does not care if you strayed once or many times.
Genital warts, herpes, gonorrhea, and aids -
some of the viruses that go with the crime.

You reap what you sow, that's what I've been told
and with betrayal that's surely the case.
Don't defile these temples of the Holy Spirit
weigh seriously the consequences you embrace.

Echo,

I've been reading your poems all afternoon...

Beautiful! Sad, but beautiful...

Would you mind if I included them in one of my threads or shared them with others off this site?

Let me know one way or the other, because until you say yes, I assume it is no.

You made my day.

Mark

Hi Mark - Certainly you may share them or post them wherever you like. Feel free.

I had all these poems bundled up and stuck in the bottom of an old trunk. I pulled them out when I discovered the "Poems" section on the forum and posted some of them. I love to write, put had never written poetry until 5 years ago during those dark months. For some reason it just pored out of me at that time. I guess strong emotions stimulate the "poetry" side of my brain.

Glad I made your day!

Blessings,
Echo
