I'm in!!! Sounds like fun. I'm always up for new outfits, hair and pampering myself. Think I might even get a nice bottle Pinot Grigio and indulge a little. I think I'm going to start right now!!!!!!!!!!

I made an appt. to get my hair cut next week. When it began shedding (dr. said due to hormones), DD and I began talking about going to a wig shop to 'try on' new styles. It's NOW time to act. (Thanks Mimi!)

Anyone know the name of the computer program where you can experiment with hair styles on your face photo?

OOoooo...I also love to do my house. Friends tell me it could be in a mag...and all with my own 2 hands!! When we moved in, there was 1970's sea foam green and peach flowered wallpaper floor to ceiling/wall to wall. YIKES!! Took DH, my parents, and me a full two weeks to get it all down-it was 20 years old and stuck straight to the drywall for goodness sakes. Now, it is gorgeous, and didn't even cost a lot b/c I did everything myself, down to my own wall treatments, decorations and flower arrangements. I am also a clean freak, so having my house spotless also makes me feel like a Goddess!!

Which reminds me...I need a new project!! (I can hear my hubby groaning all the way downstairs)

BTW-I did paint the nails last night and when DH got home, he said he had read this at work and it was a GOOD THING I was painting them. He was gonna RAT ME OUT if I wasn't...can you b'lieve dat!

Peace,
LaLa

I've learned that it's LOVING for my husband to care about my appearance. It's not just about meeting HIS EN of PHYSICAL ATTRACTION.

He knows that I FEEL happier and better when I get up and DRESS UP for the day. He is ATTRACTED to my GOOD MOOD as much or more as the PHYSICAL ATTRACTIVENESS.

So when I see MARRIED women or men who look UNKEMPT, I WONDER about THE LOVE in their relationship.

So RESONANCE, your H is EVIDENCING his LOVE for you..

Goddesses:

This is a GUY.

Continue with the fun.

I wanted to address some of what Cinders said, and the Male EN and what else can go on.

And ALL I have is what I learned at MB and personal experience.

Was having an attractive spouse important to me?

YES.

Did I realize it many years ago? NO.

But believe me, Flamingo had let her self go.....

Overweight
NO Makeup.
Frump city clothing line.
An 'easy care' do, that was a fright wig. (to me!)

Of course, my response was lousy to this, but what I am going to describe is what happened next?

Flamingo found out about the Attractiveness EN in HNHN.

She asked what I thought, and we talked about it. She wasn't one for ALL THAT.

She wasn't girly-girl.

Then she went to Nordstoms and spent an hour and $500 bucks at one of the counters. (On me, of course)

And came back with some terrific quality make-up, and TRAINING on HOW to use it.

And she started to do as Mimi described... covering the ravages of age, stress and sleeplessness (much caused by me!) around the eyes, and brightening up the cheeks. She in no way went all out. But she LIKED how she looked.

And she works with the public every day, and people started to compliment her....

And she started really liking that...

And she changed her hair. And she was getting compliments.

But I STILL didn't like it. It looked like Meg Ryan on a bad hair day.

So, in a matter of RH, I told her so.....

UGLY, UGLY Scene then.....

But we WORKED together, and she and I came up with some hairstyles that worked for her and me. And then she went to the salon, and got the whole nine yards, Style, Cut, Coloring and tint. That was stiff.

BUT SHE LOOKED AWESOME!!!!!

And then she had to learn to recreate it....

I helped. She slow simmered though this early period.

And then the compliments REALLY started.....

And she STILL looks awesome.

The makeup? Not much. Around the eyes. But the blow-dry that she needs.... She has it down to about 5 minutes in the morning.

She has added about 7 minutes to the morning routine.

She looks fabulous, go to the MB picture site and see.

I use that same picture on my cell phone.

She's NOT a slave to madison ave.

And I can't wait to see her walk in the door....

AND she loves the positive feedback from others. SHE NEVER had that before.

Is she a goddess? OH YES!

I will request an honorary membership for her.

I WILL bow out.

I enjoy reading about how the GODDESSES around here celebrate thier womanhood.

WELL..I'M BACK.......

And who knew it would be OK to work together as a marital team on PHYSICAL ATTRACTIVENESS???

Where do you learn that stuff?

Let's see...feeling like a Goddess...

My hair is really long. It was down past my calves until I decided to do a little self-trimming for the split ends instead of letting a hairdresser take off a foot of it all at once! A little bit each day and I didn't fret so much! LOL!

So it's about to my knees now, or nearly but I usually wear it up. So if I want the Goddess to REALLY make an appearance I'll wear it down and free.

My sister gave me a Jade ring for Christmas and I've been wearing it on my thumb. I don't know why but it just feels sexy.

I'd REALLY love to have one of those upper-arm...the name escapes me....like a bracelet but there's another name for it...

One of those in light gold....yeah!!! Even worn under clothing, I think you would still have that feeling of power!

Well, ok cinderella...I was wrong...must have been the Birkenstock's...You must look lots better without makeup than I do. When I was in my 30's I usually only wore a little eye makeup, lipstick, and a bit of blush. Now I use 3 different shades of concealer and a foundation.

LG,

Thanks for that feedback. On Dday when WH told me he met OP in a bar, I knew she was NOTHING like me. I'm a silk suit, designer fashion, BMW kind of gal, who doesn't do bars so I thought "well, maybe that's the problem here" until WH said that OP was just a bar%$#$ and that he knew that he could take me out in public and not worry?? Huh. I've almost always had a corporate job so never have gone without makeup or not dressed up in some way or another. OK, so it sounds like I met that EN.

Didn't help in the end though, because I'm now in Plan B.

Anyhow, I couldn't wait until February for Goddess month, so I ended up at the salon today. I had her wack off the hair to a short, sassy little messy number with really blonde highlights. Now I'll have to endure blonde jokes at work, but I can live with that.

So here are a few of my favs:

Fabric: Silk
Cologne: Dolce & Gabbana One
Car: BMW
Makeup: Bobbi Brown
Flower: Calla Lily
Female Vocalist: Toss up between Gloria Estefan and Tina Turner
Male Vocalist: Love Josh Grobin's voice but don't have any of his CD's
Composer: That's a hard one. I play mostly classical on the piano, but can't say that I have a favorite. My favorite song to play is Moonlight Sonata by Beethovan.
Drink: Chai of course
Wine: White Zin (ok, no comments please - I just like it)
Cuisine: Indian
Pastimes: Decorating/Home Imp, Reading, Knitting, Piano, sewing, and let's not forget shopping.

Wow, is this great therapy or what....

Hi ALL! It's the Rinster! SYBX wanted me to dress nicer but I fought him on it...

I didn't want the attention...I would walk out of the hosue with NO make-up on in whatever I wanted...figured if people didn't like it oh well!

NOW, I DRESS nice and wear MAKEUP almost every day...heck I'm getting to the point that I wear it even if I'm hanging around the house...

After I left, I wanted to cut my hair but waited three weeks to make sure that I wasn't going to do it inspite of STBX...he perferred it long...so I cut it and now I'm more interested in keeping it up...it's easy to take care of, dries fast, I can wear it curly or straight...I'm very happy with it...

Well, that led me to wanting to wear nicer clothes...so a few months later...I went shopping and a friend works there and informed me that they were having a HUGE sale...I spend $300 for almost $900 worth of clothes, got me three beautiful business suits, cheap!!!!a ton of other clothes and i haven't had any trouble keeping up my appearance since I then...

Things is I couldn't do it for him, I have to want to do it for myself!

The few times that I have seen STBX, he has complimented me and said that it thrills him to see me dressing better! My co-workers STILL ask when I come in really decked out where I'm going...but that's starting to fade too!

"STBX eat your heart out! You screwed up!"

Thanks mvg, I'll try fogfree's idea and yours, too.

My hair used to be soooooooo thick. But now it's very thin....nearly bald in front, too. I refuse to do the comb-over, tho. There is a limit.

I actually thought of using wigs, but my stylist said that it would ruin what little fragile hair I have left. I'm taking Nioxin and it's helping, I think.

Losing weight has helped, too.

Acey,

You are so funny - comb over, cute. You just made me laugh.

Reminds me of a guy I work with. Has an awkward bald spot right where the bangs are, and it has a little hair right in the middle, so he combs half to one side and half to the other. Not sure why they think that looks better than just the bald spot, but oh well....

Ace look at http://beauty.ivillage.com/0,,9jlxfdd5,00.html

Otherwise known as ivillage virtual hairstyles.

I'd also do a search on thinning hair styles it might come up with more selection.

I chuckled a bit at the 'comb over' too. DON'T, you are right there IS a limit!
