I don't get that the PJ's are better than the sweats??
I couldn't run around in any of the previously discussed PJ's around here! I have boys at home and people coming to the door. What do you do then?
Am I missing something here? I'm not trying to keep the sweats so much as I don't understand the PJ"s. What time of day are you running around in these PJ's? Afternoon, late evening? Help me out here.

Ladies the velour pants are awesome I'm gonna be sick, FREE..no, not the VELOUR pants... they are comfy and moveable (is that a word?) like sweats. NO COMFORT or MOVEABITLITY..that's the problem..all this focus on COMFORT... I might prefer SWEATS over VELOUR.. and ESPECIALLY..ESPECIALLY..not VELOUR with a HOODY...in LIME GREEN..

I bet you guys feel sorry for me..poor, poor Mimi...NO COMFY CLOTHES...

In all seriousness, though..
I don't want to OFFEND any of you lovely ladies...
How this all got started with me..was my recognition that I had lost MYSELF..I had become a MOMMY..and had stopped working on MYSELF..my SENSE of STYLE..my FEMININITY...
I HAD LET MYSELF GO....
And I PERSONALLY HATE MEMORIES OF THAT HAPPENING TO ME....
So I wore my share of SWEAT SUITS and UNATTRACTIVE, UNFEMININE, NONSEXUAL ATTIRE...
What was I thinking?
It's lots more FUN and EGO-BOOSTING..FOR ME.. to wear OUTFITS and to dress up..even around the house...
I made it happen..a joyful life..filled with peace, contentment, happiness and fabulocity.

Sometimes I wear sweats to clean in but rarely. I really don't like the sweats much except when I am done for the day and want to get into something comfortable. This would probably be when I am getting ready to fix dinner, when I am just wanting to slow down and relax. However, it has to be presentable to others as we have a business that revolves around our house and office which is next door so it needs to be look decent. And I thought decent (new-ish) sweats were presentable until I became a GODDESS. Now, I don't know what to do instead!
When I am cleaning I have regular clothes that I wear, just not the newer ones. And sometimes I wear (Mimi plug your ears) a SWEATSHIRT
But ya know what. I am even getting to not like them either. And that was before I became a GODDESS! I am tending to wear the 3/4 sleeve during the winter. Just the right weight to work in or sit around in. And no pesty long sleeves to push up when I do the dishes.
I have a ways to go. My problem is my gut. I want to wear baggy stuff to hide it.

I'll throw in my two cents on comfy clothes here.. lately I have been really loving SKIRTS!!
Especially in the summer, but even in the winter with leggings underneath. I always feel comfortable in them, and have a better time finding ones that fit well (I'm tall so pants always seem too short, or awkward at my post-baby pudge/waist). They're easy to find, and sometimes I sew really simple ones for just a few dollars apiece out of a yard or yard and a half of fabric. I don't even put a zipper in them, I can ?luckily? slip them over my head! (perhaps the only advantage of post-nursing shrinking breast syndrome!)

LMAO! This is the first out loud laugh of my day!
Sweats are bulky and usually come in the color gray. yuk!
Velour is soft and sexy and hugs you tight! What is not to love about that?! Especially black...I feel like a sex kitten when I wear them. LOL!
This thread is so fun.
The PJ's thing - VS has some cute ones with diff prints - hearts, stripes, animal prints. Also the GAP online. You can shop in your pj's! I have even worn them sometimes to the grocery store...multifunctional.
Believer, I'm making my healthy snack of choice tonight with the *cinnamon*.

I like the skirt idea, which reminds me. This summer I bought 3 sun dresses that are long and form fitting. They look so nice and are comfy and I thought I could wear them after a long day...but then I don't like the way my big fat belly looks so I don't wear them.
I STARTED EXERCISING THE BIG FAT BELLY TODAY! I want it gone. More incentive (the sun dresses) to try to tone down this mid-section!

((((GOOD EVENING GODDESSES))))
Ahhh, I always know where to come when I need some cheering up...lol..
Mimi is quite right....I would say that I am/was where she was...let myself go...
and I hated it as well, but in my stupidity I thought there was nothing I could do to change it.....WRONG WRONG WRONG..
For me, out of all the things my WS complained about and this being one of his top 3 EN's, this has been the easiest to change. And do you know what I learned??? I am a beautiful, vibrant, worthy woman....heck, I think I am getting more out of this than HE is...lol. My self-esteem has boosted tremendously because of this, and I don't have to tell any BS that that is much needed during this time.
So all in all, the sweats are gone...no more nada....If anything for me, when I see them they represent what I used to be, and I don't want to go there again.
Now, GODDESS Mimi what do YOU where for PJ's if hubby doesn't like the VS stuff????

I LOOOOOVVVVEEEE this thread!! Thank you so much for starting this....it's been a hoot! Room for one more?
Before DDay for me, I stopped taking the time to take care of myself. No makeup for years, wore whatever I can put on...dressing up was a pair of black slipon shoes...with everything!
Since then I got a new hair cut, started wearing makeup again (ever tried the brand RED DOOR?--amazing foundation!!), lost 40lbs--got into a size 16 (I know still large but I was at a 24), shaving all the time (my WH asked why, I said cuz I LIKE how I FEEL), also for the softest skin ever...try Oil of Olay in shower lotion.
Not fully GODDESS mode but I getting there one lipstick at a time!!
Here's toast to all the amazing, beautiful, and strong goddess! Bottoms up! Tami

(Hey Skins, How are you today?!) I'm good today. I surrendered me, my H and my need to control to G-d this afternoon, about 7 hours ago, but whose counting. And not only am I doing ok, but I was laughing earlier tonight and ready for bed. I'm very grateful tonight. How are you?

I think the SWEATS must go, but the rest is really up to your own taste, as well as your H's (if he's come to his senses and returned home).
I like camisole type nighties for bedtime. YOu can purchase a robe, something nice, to go over top while the kiddies are awake. For cleaning, hmmmm, I usually wear jeans, I suppose, and clean myself not long after finishing. If I'm LOUNGING, I will wear the VS matching PJ's or something similar, during the day, when DS is up and active, but once I shower, it's regular clothing. I'm looking into more skirts for the warm months.
I was lucky, up until my now mid thirties, in that my skin was really lovely, so I didn't HAVE to wear makeup, but I usually wore bronzer for my cheeks and forehead, to give me that kiss of sunshine look.
I still have nice skin, but I have some uneveness, no dark circles. I wear foundation to smooth that out, and my makeup routine is only 5 minutes.

OK Goddesses,
Got my new do and it is a hit.
Checked out the mineral makeup and it is a hit.
Ditched the sweats and went to Eddie Bauer for something to wear around the house. Got some great pima cotton turtlenecks and a cool down vest to wear with jeans. I keep my place cool to save on the heating bills. This weekend was single digits, so the down vest came in handy.
Now I'm on the next step of being a Goddess in the kitchen. I bought an AeroGrow on Saturday evening. What a clever little invention it is. I hooked it up and presto! I have little sprouts this morning. My first kit is gourmet herbs, and I have little sprouts of purple basil and thyme peeking through. I'm currently in the market for some new and wonderful gourmet recipes, so if anyone out there has a good Goddess recipe or two where I can use my new gourmet herbs, I would appreciate it. I have basil, thyme, chives, dill, mint, and parsley.
Have a great day Goddesses, and do get some of the mineral makeup. Your skin will look airbrushed - just like the models on the cover of Vogue.
So Goddesses....Look your best, dress to kill, eat a healthy diet, and (oh, I even hate the word)...Exercise! (my next big step).

(((((GOOD MORNING GODDESSES)))))
Way 2 go Chai....I'll pull out my "secret" cookbook and see what other recipes I have so you can use your new herbs.. I am not having a very GODDESS morning. I called into work. I only got about 2 1/2 hours of beauty sleep last night. WS ticked me off bad and of course I had a hard time letting it go. So, now I will use the day to get myself into my "GODDESS" mode and get some things done. I'll will enjoy the peace and quiet since the kiddies are off to school. I would do my morning check list, but considering I just got out of bed and haven't even changed, it would be pointless (Hey at least I am not in sweatpants...I am in lounge pants and t-shirt I slept in...).
Just wanted to pop in and wish everyone a great "GODDESS" day.

Like my V-ball coach used to say, "Shake it OFF!!!" not2fun. Or you could go the old Rodgers and Hammerstein route and just "Wash that man right outta your hair". Either way, sounds like you are still on track for the day, just slow outta the gate.
For the first time in two weeks, I got up and showered IMMEDIATELY. I did my hair up nice and dabbed on my makeup.

Ok, I will add another *favorite* here to the list, since so many are mentioning exercise.. I am NO exercise guru, and was really needing to add in some kind of routine and was not having any luck or results with the home videos I tried. I joined a gym, and yet still wasn't exactly sure what I was doing. We finally shelled out the money for 3 sessions with a trainer - which was around $100 I think. For me, it was one of the best $100 I've EVER spent. This was around five years ago, and I still use the rotating routine (3 different sets, each 1x a week). I still use the different tips she gave me, that I think really made a difference. It was well worth the money (for me, but like I said - I was starting from ground zero).
I also read a book that helped me (I can't remember the name now), but it was really just basics about tracking calories and such, which also really helped me. (I found out I was *drinking* about half my calorie alottment each day! I had a soda addiction, I think!) Those things combined, and being regular to do about 1 hour 3x/week at the gym, helped me lose about 2lb a week until I had lost about 50lbs! It has also helped me to get back to about my weight goal after having two more babies. This was huge for me, because being overweight really runs in my family, and I had just kind of felt destined for the same thing.
Lastly, I still have problems with my post-baby stomach, but a trainer-friend told me that if you are working on your abs that is really something you have to do almost every day (not just once a week like the other muscle groups I do). Doing my ab-exercises more often has definitely made more of a difference for me, though have a ways to go.
Just hoping some of this might be helpful to others!! :-)

Good for abs -
Bicycle maneuver. To do this exercise, you lie flat on the floor with your lower back pressed to the ground. Put your hands beside your head. Bring your knees up to about a 45-degree angle and slowly go through a bicycle pedal motion. Touch your left elbow to your right knee, then your right elbow to your left knee. Breathe evenly throughout the exercise.
You need to do this for 5 minutes every day, not skipping any days.

Today I am not so GODDESS looking...but I still feel like one!
It is 25 degrees BELOW ZERO and I'm wearing my sweat shirt! My hair looks good and so does my skin. I didn't put on the mascara and lip gloss...I'm gonna be drinking hot cider over at my office here in a few short minutes so the lip gloss will just disappear anyway. And, no one is home except my 20 year old son so it's o.k. (and he's going to the shop).
I did my exercises today. Phoenix, I have been doing stretches and abs/bun/legs every morning cuz it will take more than a few times a week to tone this mess up!
This info you posted helped me! I would like to learn more about calorie counting/fat counting. I have always been thin and the last few years I am getting that middle aged spread. I have never had to watch what I eat so now I don't know how to watch it! I just thought I would always be skinny! Ha. Now I look just like my mom!

[color:"red"]My xfil is having surgery for an abdominal hernia and aortic aneurysm today. Please pray he does well and recovers nicely. The damage done by surgery is painful even if you aren't almost 85. And who knows what the affect/effect of the anesthesia will be on his sharp brain. I am worried. He and his wife have never been anything but kind and loving to me.[/color]
