Checking In.....

Hair.... fair, not one of my better days

Make Up.... matches outfit

Clothes... New dress, looking sharp

Nylons... I HATE them. Mine are ripping as we speak and as we move. BUT being the learning and changing GODDESS that I am, I have a second pair on hand for when they run past my dress.

Attitude.... I'm grateful for you all and I surrendered to G-d my will and my life. I truly am coming to walk in complete FAITH that G-d is preparing me for something wonderful. Why as smart as I am, would I FIGHT that.

Took a shower, got dressed, doing my hair & makeup. Going out today and getting some fresh air. Telling myself to have a good day because I need to. Hoping somebody calls me for a job interview. Trying so hard to be positive. Going to see therapy lady tonight.

I'm not so goddess-y today.

So, I was this morning.... I put on a nice new sweater I just got this weekend, tight jeans and some nice (but functional, for the snow) boots. Put on my jewelry, did my make up and hair (I just got my hair cut this weekend so I'm getting used to styling it).

But, I woke up with a scratchy throat which has quickly turned into a full blown illness of some sort throughout the course of the day... now my head hurts, I'm achy all over, my face is all flushed (although it does make me look like I have a healthy glow about my skin, a nice blush... but it is just because I'm sure I have a fever...).

Not feeling so goddess-y. I may go home and throw on some.... *gasp, horror* SWEATPANTS and get to bed early.

There's nothing goddess-y about being sick...

H actually said that he'd stop and get me some soup on the way home and some cough medicine for tonight. He's being sweet

Cinders prayers sent for your xfil.

Skins I truly am coming to walk in complete FAITH that G-d is preparing me for something wonderful. Why as smart as I am, would I FIGHT that. I LIKE THAT ATTITUDE!

SL sounds like recovery is getting better for you each day! Way to go gal!

RIM I hope you aren't coming down with anything bad. Glad your H is being sweet. Mine has been so sweet since Friday it's surprising to me. Hope they both keep it up!

Goddess routine is getting to be regular habit now! Thanks Mimi for this thread. It definately has helped re-focus my attention, and made me realize why should my H really give a hoot to take care of me if I'm not! Definately a duh moment turned bright!

Now question on the mineral makeup (I hope to make it to the city to try it out soon)...how does it do on a starting to wrinkle face? Most of the foundations I've tried make them more noticable a definate YUCK.

Have a great Goddess night all!

Do you take care of your skin with skin care products? In my HUMBLE experience, I do make up for brides. How is the moisture in your skin and if it's dry, use something and that will help.

Anyone else?

Hi all,
MVG, I have heard the mineral makeup works wonders for the wrinkles! It doesn't accentuate them..I haven't tried it yet..
tap, tap, tap, waiting for my order!!

And what a dork-me-I ordered the wrong color mineral powder!!
Oh well, we'll see if it works and if not I'll re-order the right one

I am still in a sweat shirt..a little while ago at probably the high of the day, our temperature was still below zero!!
I hate it when it gets this cold! And it is clear as a bell outside so it will get really cold tonight too! I'm turning up the electric mattress pad!!

Oh, I got some bookwork done at my office so I feel pretty good and goddess-y about that!

Have a good evening!

MVG,

I'm 53 and it makes my skin look flawless. It will work for you too! Just get the right color - I think that's the trick....

Are there any "magical" GODDESS steps to get a down GODDESS back up again??

Come on girls I know you'l have some GREAT advice for me to read tomorrow....cuz this GODDESS is going to bed....

Skins until this thread I was VERy bad about taking care of my skin on a daily basis. I only moisturized on occassion. As of now, I do a nightly cleaning and moisturizing routine and moisturize in morning also before makeup.

Thanks everyone I am going to give the mineral makeup a try.

N2F shhhhhhhhhhh don't tell Mimi but I have a secret pair of sweat pants just for that reason. Any PJ's?

Kids and house have to take care of each other while mommy Goddess is sick. Your oldest should be able to pitch in, if there is any fussing, can you lay on sofa overseeing major stuff but still resting? I hope you get over this soon.

Good Morning GODDESSES!

I am up and planning a wonderful day. The temp is a balmyminus 23 degrees outside so I guess I'll stay inside today! I will do my dishes and vacuum and then go work on tax stuff.

Not2fun, I'm sorry you are sick! I hope you got a good nights sleep and feel better this morning! You better just stay in your PJ's today since you don't have sweats. Take good care of yourself-drink lots of fluids and make yourself some soup when you feel like eating again. And have the kids help with the house. You can just sit/lay on the couch and direct them. It may make them fell quite useful/helpful to help their sick momma!

Have a great GODDESS day everyone.

I'm currently swinging to the Beatles "Birthday" song in my jammies, sipping my tea and thinking happy thoughts about my mom, whom I miss tremendously on my day.

It's gonna be a good day.

Yes, I'd like to know what a goddess does to take care of herself when she's sick too!!

I woke up this morning feeling like MAJOR poop. Hubby brought me home some chicken noodle soup last night, so that was nice. I slept in a little this morning, got to work about an hour and a half later than normal. I would have not come in at all, but I have a lot of stuff that I HAD to get done today (plus I teach classes at a University, and they don't take kindly to you taking "class days" off unless you are dead....).

So, yeah, I took care of my skin this morning (moisterize and then a little bit of the mineral make up... no eye make up or lipstick... just didn't have the energy...).... threw on a older pair of jeans a sweater (about the "least dressed up" I can get away with being on a teaching day). No jewelry. And I also pulled my hair up in a clip wet. SOOOOO not a goddess today...

What sucks the most... I have a night class that I take for my degree that I'm working on.... that is Wednesday nights. Oi. I don't know if I'm going to make it through this one.... I feel like such crap....

Oh--- in terms of the mineral make up... I bought two different kinds. I bought the kind that "matches' my skin tone... then I bought this kind that is supposed to "brighten" your face too. It is like a mixed powder... it has pinks and browns and flesh tones, and even a little white sparkly powder in it. It really brightens up my skin... since I tend to look washed out during the winter.

I'm kinda upset that I am going to miss going to the gym tonight because I'm sick. I have been consistently going 4 days a week since January 1st-- and I've already lost 5 lbs! I only have about 10 more to go to my goal weight. Usually I go on Wednesdays after class, but there's no way I'm going to be able to go today.

Have a great goddess day!!! And Not2fun... we can be sick and miserable together! (although I still had to drag my butt to work... ugh...)

Goddesses take time off to recover from illness, ladies. Caring for yourself is one of the best things you can do. If that means that things get put on hold, or things fall behind a bit, then so be it. NOTHING is more important than your health and wellbeing.

Take care regret and not2fun!

((((HAPPY BIRTHDAY GODDESS SILENT))))

I hope this year is the year of YOU..and as I heard on "Housewives of Orange County" last night...I don't worry about being 1 year older, because if I'm not 1 year older than I'm dead....bahhhwwahahah that line just cracked me up...

Have a great day and make sure it is all about YOU..because you my friend deserve it...

Regret and Not2 - Take good care of yourselves. I don't know if you have a cold or what, but there are over the counter things you can take to prevent a cold. Have to take it on the first day you feel sick though. One is Cold-Eze and the other is ColdMD. They REALLY WORK.

Best thing for being sick is rest, sleep and lots of fluids.

Happy Birthday, SL! Hope it is a good one.

My mom is going back to Seattle today. Sure going to miss her. Still can't believe I haven't lost even a pound after all of that exercise. Some days we walked almost 6 hours a day. And I ate healthy food too.

Tonight I'm breaking out the wine.

Well, thank you very much, not2fun...now get some relaxation in when you can, lady.

I am always grateful for my birthday. I don't think of it as a day when others are SUPPOSED to lavish me with attention and gifts (that's a PERK), but I see it as a day to celebrate my life so far, and to come. Counting my blessings, and I do have many.

It's easy to focus on the negative, and takes away from the good that exists in daily life, so I strive to maintain some semblance of positivity, to combat the tough times, including illness.

I have one for the illen ladies; watching something that makes you laugh or smile. Romantic comedy, slapstick, anything that gets you to smile. Helps to boost that immunity.

((((GOOD MORNING ALL GODDESSES)))))

Have I ever mentioned how much I love this thread and how much it means to me???? Really I do. It is probably the most important thread to me on here, even more than my own. Probably because this thread isn't so focused on all of our M and WS problems. Or it could be that I have had so much trouble in the past with PA and taking care of myself that this thread gives me great tips, ideas and general self-esteem booster. You all are the best....

I think my illness has gone to my brain...getting a little sentimental this morning...oh well, at least the tears are helping to unclogg my nose for a little while.

MVG---throw away that pair of sweats....if I can do it, you can do it....or at least hide them well from sweat-policeman mimi....lol

thanks everyone for the well wishes on my recovery. I am going to the DR. later today. I figure that I have a sinus infection bad and need some antibiotics.

Today I am going to take it easy. I only drink water anyways (hate soda...always have) but I did go and buy some 7up to help clear the sinuses. I have some shows recorded that I am going to catch up on and I did scrub my bathroom this morning so it will be nice and clean if it needs to be used. So today for me is "GODDESS RECOPERATION DAY"...LOL
