RIM,

Unfortunately, WH got the DVD player when we split things for the move. I just haven't been able to get another one, but I think my work laptop will do DVD's. Two more days to payday, then I can get my kit. I'm just too excited.

OK, I'm all over a trip to So. Cal. Love it there. I'll go anytime.

Believer, what is the "O" Club? When my WH was in the Air Force, it was Officer's Club, but I'm wondering if you meant something different? After all, blouse unbuttoned down to there, F-me shoes, shooting pool???? Enlighten me please....

In honor of the GODDESS..WITHIN US..promoted by many of you HERE, I broke down yesterday and dared to go to the GROCERY STORE...near my house..mind you... WITH NO MAKEUP!!

I'm not too sure that I will be able to do that again. Thankfully no one saw me. If they did, they wouldn't be able to recognize me. The cashiers treated me the same although I felt NAKED!!

It was a VERRRY anxiety-provoking experience which I will leave to you YOUNGSTERS!!

I mean I'm gonna have to at least do BLUSH, MASCARA and LIP GLOSS! OK?

Mimi, by all means, use the bare necessities!

If you were in your twenties, I might argue with you, but I don't leave the house without my bronzer on. If I don't feel like doing my eyes, I brush a tiny bit of blush on my lids and use lip gloss to make my lips FEEL good, much less look smooth and yummy.

No need to ADD anguish to your existence.

As an aside, my surgeon has cleared me for work starting next week. I'm excited to get back, but I will miss being home. The time home has given me a lot of time to work on bringing my spirits up and taking care of myself.

Since my surgeon's office is across campus, at Hopkins, from my office, I decided to stop by work. It was nice to see my old pals again, and they were all surprised when I told them I would be returning. I really do work in a great place, with some really fine folks. Lucky me...

I just became a bit tense for you. I'm doing some deep breathing to release the tension. WHEW!

I want to hear no more of this EXPERIMENTATION, ya hear?!

Now, back to our regularly makeuped Mimi...

Thanks for having MY BACK, SL...

I've decided to go ahead and BE ME...

I mean like I've been telling you guys..my 90 something year old grandmother insisted on wearing an OUTFIT and ORANGE lipstick to go to her doctor's appts..and of course, we couldn't forget her POCKETBOOK...
I mean, what did she have to carry in that thing..her lipstick and tissues, of course..and over and over again, she would ask me; "Where is my POCKETBOOK?"...she was the ULTIMATE GODDESS. This may sound morbid to some.. but I put lace gloves on her hands for her viewing...cause I couldn't get her nails all PRETTY...

God bless you, ladies....hope I'm allowed in

JJ, you mentioned your H likes long hair. It got me to thinking....my WW cut her long hair off about 2 months ago. Is that something a lady might do just to 1) impress OM or 2) try to change her own outlook on life (goddess up prior to an A) ???

Stupid question, just got me to thinking....I wonder if that should have been a sign to me before the A came out? Women's input??

Stay strong! - ILA

Last week I was really sick with respiratory issues. So, I've been sleeping through the use of that magic elixer - guafinesin and codeine.

Tonight, I need to try to sleep without it. Why? Because I had such a goddessy dream!!!

I dreamed that I discovered that my legs always have a scrape or scratch or bruise from just doing what I do....bumping into things. And, I discovered that keeping them tanned meant the injuries healed more quickly.....it was a dream, remember. It doesn't have to make sense.

So, I talked to my tax attorney (I have never had one of those), and asked him if I could claim a medical deduction for the cost of tanning my legs when I submitted my income tax return. He researched it and got back to and said I could if I got documentation from my dr.

(((Mimi))) some experimenting with Goddessy things is ok, but for heaven sakes don't do it if you are going to have a meltdown, definately not Goddess like. Go with your bare necessities at least. And I think putting lace gloves on your grandmother was a wonderful thing to do. Such a "LADY" definately wouldn't want to have unkept hands.

RIM thanks for the info, helps alot. My skin isn't to bad but I have one red spot with broken vessels that I'd really like to cover and tired eye look-under eye circles.

Cinders sounds like you might be on the mend, thankfully! I wonder what type of reason you can get from doc to have tanning deduction?! You'll have to let us know on that.

P. S. ladies if anyone is thinking about getting the BE makeup or ordering more- check out the ULTA site there is a 20% printable coupon. Actually they carry different types of makeup and most everything is included in their sale.

Hmm... wish I would have known about that 20% coupon last week, mvg! I went on quite a little shopping spree at Ulta...

Mimi-- I will admit I was one of those people that used to frequently leave the house with little to no make up on. And (gasp, shock, horror...) sweatpants!

But no longer. Now the "least dressed" I get to leave the house is a pair of jeans and a nice sweater. (Except for when I'm going to the gym, which also warrants sweatpants for walking from the car to the gym, over my super cute gym outfit...).

Now, I have a "minimal make up level" to leave the house and go to work that is the BE make up, with a little bit of a neutral, shimmery eye shadow, mascara, and some colored gloss. It is a natural look, doesn't look all made up. I like it. And then for the "evenings", I usually toss some eye liner and some deeper colored lipstick into the mix. I am fortunate that with my skin tone and hair, I can carry off a red lipstick pretty well. (Its too much to wear to work, but I can wear it out on a Friday night!). What is everyone else's "minimal make up"?

I must admit that taking a little more "care" with my appearance recently really makes me feel better I walk with a little more "strut" in my stuff... because I know I look good! And that confidence carries over to the rest of my life too!

I was talking to my old college roommate last night on the phone (she lives across the country from me... I'm on the east coast, she's on the west coast)... and she's moving to Boston to take a pharmacy position there this summer. (She's a pharmacist now). So-- I got to SERIOUSLY thinking that if this doesn't work out with H and all-- I may move to Boston and move back in with her. We make GREAT roommates... I love her to death... and it would be fun to "revert" back to that lifestyle for a bit. She's single and just went through a pretty bad breakup with someone she thought she was going to marry... so this could be a great thing for both of us. We'll see. Just got me thinking...

Have a great goddess day!!!

ILA,

When a man starts to exercise and change his appearance, it may be because he is thinking about an affair. MAY be. For a woman it may or may not be. Most women are vain by nature and always want to look good and try new hair do's.

I have changed my appearance and cut my hair for different reasons other than a man. Once when I was pregnant, because hair made me sick. I mean my hair is long and curly and for some reason any hair on the floor, sink or tub nauseated me, so Off it went.

The other time was when I switched careers from bartending to the corporate world. I wanted to look professional.

Now, I am a newleywed and because I have MB coming out the ying yang, I value my H's opinion, but before MB I would have suited myself, and myself only.

OKAY, girls!!! I just came by to tell you to pick up the book "French Women Don't Get FAT"...it's awesome! I picked it up while out of town last weekend, read the whole thing, AND started some of the tips. I even convinced my H that we could have a glass of wine (two tops) at dinner, and it would be okay and very healthy...BUT no hard liquor and never wine without food.

It has awesome recipes in it, too!

PS, I have used mineral makeup for almost ten years.

If you have wrinkles or bad skin, check out MAMA Cream, or Green Cream!

PSS, I love reading this thread! Can't read hardly anything else on this board anymore, but this thread is really a lot of fun.

I'm gonna check out the ULTA site.

I gotta tell ya, I tend to change my hair at least once a year, and most times, drastically, and it has NEVER had anything to do with any other man. Usually, it's my way of rearranging the furniture, only I'm rearranging my hair. It can be refreshing to change. My sister is a colorist, so I've been coloring my hair since my twenties, initially, so she could get practice. Now, I have lotsa greys and do enjoy coloring it.

I've asked my H what type of hair he prefers, but he's not solid on the answer. We'll see. He SEEMS to prefer it shoulder length. I like it that length too, but cut it recently for the surgery.

JJ, thanks for the book recommendation, sounds like a winner to me.

I agree LC. I'm thinking about going shoulder length and blond. Now that will be drastic!

mvg, you asked about the brand of mineral makeup everyone uses, and I use BE, just because that is what I started on. I haved use Philosophy AirBrushed and it is a lot thicker coverage, so I didn't really like it that much. I might try to use it again, though, but it has added sunscreen and I don't like to use suncreen. (toxic chemicals)

Also did you know that broccoli is the best sunscreen there is, because it lets the good rays in that we really need, and stops the burning rays. A lotion made from broccoli should be coming out soon. Seems kind of funny, hey? Broccoli lotion.

Broccoli lotion...now THAT's going green!

Ulta is a site and they have stores and salons that happens to carry the BE makeup along with other brands. I thought Sephora was the only one but lo and behold Ulta carries it too. For me NOT being a makeup person hardly at all shelling out $60 for something that might not work is hard to swallow BUT give me a 20% discount and hey it works!
Coupon expires Saturday, can be used online or in store.

I have colored my hair for years. I was an early grayer (20's), and getting grayer every day. I did the blonde for a while but didn't have any fun so went back to a brown (natural color) now I'm at a light golden brown which I really like. I've also found for the really stubborn gray if you are a do it yourselfer the Clarol gray solutions is wonderful! Covers better than L'oreal.

I hope everyone is having a great goddess day. Blue skies here absolutely beautiful, but very windy.

You must be somewhere in the North east mvg-- we are having that EXACT same weather. Well, but it is really cold here.

What part of the country are you in?

Oh my goodness, I change my hair almost everytime I get it cut. It has never been for any reason other than I like change. I'm always rearranging furniture, buying something new, painting a different color, trying a new recipe etc. I just like change.....except in spouses. M almost 35 years. Mine got bored with me first.

(((((GOOD EVENING)))))

I know this is late in coming, I apologize but here is the Chicken Roll Up recipe I have.

Chicken Roll Up Recipe

Ingrediants

4 chicken breast (cooked and cut up into small pieces)
2 8oz. pk. cream cheese, softened
4 green onions (I do 8, but then we like onions)
salt, pepper, garlic powder, all to taste

1 C. butter, melted
1 box stuffing mix (sage flavor), crushed
2 pk. cresent rolls

Directions

Preheat oven according to cresent roll package. Combine the chicken, cream cheese, onions, and seasonings.

Put a spoonful of the cream cheese mixture onto a creasant roll. Wrap the roll around the filling (these will be a filled crecsant roll when done). Dip the roll in the melted butter, the dip into the stuffing mix until well coated. Cook in the oven for as long as the crescent package says.

If you have any questions or are confused just let me know...This is a REALLY GOOD recipe...

It's amazing how clear everything in the past becomes after you've lost something important to you. How many W's have heard their H's say that!

About 2 weeks before dropping the bomb on me, my WW pulled out all her teenie little, sexy work out clothes she used to wear before we met and said "can you believe I used to wear these". This was also shortly after the hair cut. Of course my stupid response was something like "it's ok honey, we just aren't the same people we were then...I think you look fine".

At the time I thought I was being nice and supportive with that comment (male brain!).......but now I know it was a cry for help with WW's self esteem and all I did was reinforce her feelings of self-doubt. Ohhhh, to go back in time!

Always love a Woman's point of view.......thanks. - ILA
