What was funny about the tanning dream was - I don't tan....not tanning beds and not outside. I do get banged and bruised up, though. I don't know a tax attorney. Why, oh why, was I dreaming about tanning. Years ago, I had some African American friends who were amazed by how fair my legs are.

Hmmm...
I just had to chime in...
OMG, when I was pregnant with my youngest DD, I had gone to my Grandfathers to help out, and I had done some work outside... I was a SWEATY, DISHEVELED mess (NO MAKE-UP, BRIGHT RED because I was pregnant, fair skinned, and HOT)... But did it stop me from going to the local Wal-Mart with my kids? NO!

And I ran into, not ONE, not TWO, but THREE people I knew. One was someone I currently worked with, one was someone I used to work with, and one was someone I used to go to school with. I thought that all was well, UNTIL.... I heard a day later that the girl that I USED to work with told a bunch of people that she suspected I was HIGH, because WHO would go out in public like that!!!!

Since then, I have always made sure I looked at least OK when I go out.... I don't want people thinking anything... LOL!

RIM I'm in So. VA. Where are you located?

N2F, I'm printing that recipe, sounds yummy. I've been pushing the chicken on H and he NEEDS something different if he has to eat 'yard bird'!

Sadmo murphy's law isn't it?! Even if you just run up to the local store just for a sec and you look like...well not Goddess like, sure enough you'll run into EVERYONE who notices your appearance!

Nice to know information for goddesses

Peel a banana from the bottom and you won't have to pick the little "stringy things" off of it. That's how the primates do it.

Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.

Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!

Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.

Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.

To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich, add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.

For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.

Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.

Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream.

1. Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.

2. Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up, mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done. Easy clean up!

3. Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake or cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.

4. Reheating Refrigerated Bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.

5. Newspaper Weeds Away
Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers put layers around the plants overlapping as you go cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening
plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.

6. Broken Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily.

7. No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.

8. Squirrel Away
To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.

9. Flexible Vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge, add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.

10. Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and -- ta da! -- static is gone!

11. Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right
out.

12. Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car. When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!

13. Reopening Envelope
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside , just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.

14. Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's a lot cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair...

15. Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass fill it 1/2" with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid, mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!

16. Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it "home," can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works & you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!

17. INFO ABOUT CLOTHES DRYERS
The heating unit went out on my dryer! The gentleman that fixes things around the house for us told us that he wanted to show us something and he went over to the dryer and pulled out the lint filter. It was clean. (I always clean the lint from the filter after every load clothes.) He told us that he wanted to show us something; he took the filter over to the sink, ran hot water over it. The lint filter is made of a mesh material -I'm sure you know what your dryer's lint filter looks like. well,...the hot water just sat on top of the mesh! It didn't go through it at all! He told us that dryer sheets cause a film over that mesh, and that's what burns out the heating unit. You can't SEE the film, but it's there. It's what is in the dryer sheets to make your clothes soft and static free -- that nice fragrance too, you know how they can feel waxy when you take them out of the box, well this stuff builds up on your clothes and on your lint screen. This is also what causes dryer units to catch fire & potentially burn your house down with it! He said the best way to keep your dryer working for a very long time (& to keep your electric bill lower) is to take that filter out & wash it with hot soapy water & an old hairbrush (or other brush) at least every six months. He said that makes the life of the dryer at least twice as long! How about that!?! Learn something new every day! I certainly didn't know dryer sheets would do that. So, I thought I'd share!

Note: I went to my dryer & tested my screen by running water on it. The water ran through a little bit but mostly collected all the water in the mesh screen. I washed it with warm soapy water & a nylon brush & I had it done in 30 seconds. Then when I rinsed it the water ran right thru the screen! There wasn't any puddling at all! That repairman knew what he was talking about!

Hello Ladies (and any 'lurking' gents!)

I know I am late in joining.... but I do believe I have 'paid my dues'...not only have I read through the WHOLE thread ... but I do think I have done my best at being an 'exemplary' PLAN B QUEEN .... and even though I have not recovered my marriage ... I AM in the process of recovering....ME!

- I have warded off all of WS's attempts to break PLAN B.... by consistently informing him that should he want me in his life, it required his commitment to doing whatever it took to recover our marriage and family...the first item on the list being....N\C with OW! .....however, WS is still hoping that TIME will do the trick.... and that magically I will want to do the 'friendly' coparenting that he has been trying to get me to do using various means... without have to give up OW!

Once WS moved out over two years ago, 'opportunity' came knocking....at work that would allow me to travel MORE.... and since NO relationship was holding me back....in the last few years I have... travelled!... and have thoroughly enjoyed myself!

- three trips to CA (two in the Monterey peninsula, and one to LaJolla, where, believe it or not, I almost hooked up with Believer!) which were greatly appreciated since where I live...winter is the longest season!

...visited Chicago, St. Louis, San Francisco, London (England), Antwerp (Belgium)

...add to that a couple of trips to NYC with ma boys!

...a few 'local' trips...and...VOILA!

...life has been good in PLAN B!

I seem to have totally regained my sense of....adventure that I had back in my....20s! ...and I feel...FEARLESS... at least today I do.... (since I choose to take life one day at a time!)...

I am now facing the D route.... and am actually getting to a place where I am looking forward to it.... as it will give me permission to look for that 'someone' who WILL appreciate ME in his life... since WS doesn't seem to!

The biggest lesson learned?

...appreciating, EVERY DAY, what I DO HAVE (now, in the present).... as opposed to thinking about what I HAD (in the past) and WISHING FOR (in the future!)..what I HAD in the past....as you can see, this would be a total waste of....time.... when one realizes how precious it is!

...AND being....flexible enough to go with the....FLOW.... of LIFE!

...and what I know for sure today is....that I have two beautiful boys that I adore!... family and friends that care about me.... my health... a chance to earn a living.... a house to live in.... and most importantly....my zest for living (which was iffy right after D-day!)

Sorry for this long initial post.... but as you can see... I am very proud of myself on how I am dealing with a rollercoaster ride I did not ask to be on!

...and that is....LIFE!

Take care.

....and thanks MIMI for starting this thread, which I think helps immensely in regaining a sense of <balance> in a very <unbalanced> time of our lives!

Luna,

Welcome!! Yes, you are a Goddess and inspiration to us all. I'm starting to feel like you do - a little liberated. Starting to look at the world differently these days. Heck, as I lay in bed last night in the quiet I was thinking "poor OW, she's the one that won't be able to sleep tonight because of WH's gosh-awful snoring. Poor OW." I then fell fast asleep and slept all night. Woke up refreshed and ready to be a Goddess today.

Believer - thanks for the tips. Those were a huge help.

Since I've decided that February is my "gourmet month" I'm looking for great slow cooker recipes. I'm buying a new slow cooker today (mine is one of the original Crock Pots). I hear the new ones are way better, so thought I would get on the bandwagon and get a new one. If anyone has an awsome recipe, I would love to have it.

Our mall has a House of Brows now, so I may do a permanent brow tint tonight. Gotta get that last Goddess beauty treatment in before the month ends.....

It is such a blessing to read how happy you ladies are, I can't even tell you.

Lunamare, you about brought tears to my eyes. What an inspiration to many, you are.

Chai, I never heard of getting your eye brows dyed. Wow. Well, we don't even HAVE a mall where I live. But that will change when I move. YAY!

Believer, If the mosquito trick and the wet newspaper trick works, I am going to give you a big, fat, wet one right on the cheeks!!!

Hey Chai! What's the difference between the old school slow cooker and the new ones?? I still have and old one, I think. I LOVE my slow cooker. It is GREAT to be able to dump some stuff in there, and then come home to dinner after work!! I have lots of recipes for my slow cooker. I have a good recipe for a slow cooker "pot pie" that I love. I don't have it on me right now, I'd have to look it up at home, but it is pretty much a giant chicken pot pie when you are done (you cook the "innards" all day long, and the layer over bisquick mix at the very end, cook for another hour to make the "crust", and viola! Slow cooker chicken pot pie!)

Believer-- that was an awesome list! I love the deviled eggs idea. H loves deviled eggs... so since I'm still in plan A (although little does he know I'm planning my plan B currently...) maybe if he's a good boy I'll make him some deviled eggs that way

Lunamare!!! You are SUCH a goddess, we should be taking LESSONS from you! I am so proud of you, and I really really hope that if my M doesn't work out that I can take a page from your life and follow in your footsteps! You really seem to have it all together, and you DESERVE the best, and someone that APPRECIATES what a goddess you are!!

OK-- so my goddess check in of the day (I know, kinda late, but I was really busy at work all day!).

- cute f-me high heeled boots (I forget who coined that term on here, but I love it...)-- and I even had the confidence to laugh at myself when I stepped up on the sidewalk on my way to work this morning (from my car) and totally stumbled in front of about 3 people (strangers, thankfully...). I'm not used to wearing high heeled boots to work!! But I laughed at myself, and kept going...

- Grey slacks that hug my butt nicely then are looser in the leg.

- Black sweater that has a scoop neck and little "holes" in the arms so you can see a peak of skin (hard to describe, but its cute!)

- I even went as far as to put on eyeliner to go to work today (I never wear eyeliner to work...). I didn't do the red lipstick because I figured that was just too much for work...

- Nicely styled hair...

Well, I've gotten lots of compliments on my look today. We'll see if H even bothers to notice. Probably not. Oh well. I know I look good!

Oh-- and I weighed myself at the gym last night... I've lost 5 lbs since the beginning of the month!! I have about 10 more to go until I reach the weight I want to be at...

Well, ladies, I'm not much in the Goddess mindset right now; the hormones are ridin high, and I become heavily triggered at this time, but I LOOK fantastic.

I finished sewing my last panel of curtains for my boudoire makeover, and assembled a piece of furniture that is part of my new bedroom suite. I may not feel great, but I'm doing all I can counteract the sadness. Keeping busy is a good one. I also self soothe, and allow myself to grieve a bit, cry some, but I limit it, to avoid going deeper into the FUNK.

Hopefully, tomorrow will be a better day. I'll do my darndest to make it so.

RIM,

The newer ones have removable containers that you can do everything in - brown the meat on the stove, slow cook, store in fridge, and put in dishwasher. They also have programmable thermostats that let you start at a stated time, automatically switch from hi to low while you're gone, and then keep warm until you get home. Pretty cool, huh?

The All-Clad is about $150, but I hope to get one a little more reasonably priced.

EZ, quick crockpot recipe - It takes me less than 3 minutes to throw together.

4-5 boneless chicken breasts
1 (15 1/2 ounce) can black beans
1 (15 ounce) can corn
1 (15 ounce) jar salsa, any kind
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese

Take 4-5 frozen, yes, frozen, boneless chicken breasts put into crock pot.
add 1 can of black beans, drained, 1 jar of salsa, 1 can of corn drained.
Keep in crock pot on high for about 4-5 hours or until chicken is cooked.
Add 1 package of cream cheese (just throw it on top!) and let sit for about 1/2 hour.
All done and enjoy!

Serve with tortilla's, rice, or even over noodles.

Hello ladies,

Thanks for making me feel welcome.

...You are all quite the busy...bees....

Since I have been 'replaced' in WS's family gatherings by OW, even for 'deaths in the family'.... and since WS picked up the boys after school to take them to his hometown about an hour and half away (with or without OW?...don't know because I don't ask!)....for a 'final' visit of a favourite uncle at the funeral home.....

...rather than go straight home after work....I took a detour... and went to see a movie first...

I just love going to the movies!

...and if mentally and emotionally I am working at 'clearing' my heart to make room for someone else, if need be, with PLAN B....I am similarly 'chipping away' at decluttering our basement of all the 'stuff' WS collected over the years, and that also is coming along quite nicely!

...I am holding back somewhat at looking 'hot' until after the D! ...but that day will also come.... and for now, I aim for the 'classy casual' look even at home ... and definitely...no sweat pants..MIMI!

I also work hard at practicing Ark's BE STILL..... and can't even believe it myself that I have been in PLAN B for over two years! .... away from the drama... NO RUSHING.... taking my sweet time....and smelling the roses along the way!

Some of you ladies may have already come across this book, apparently it's a best seller, but just in case anyone is looking for something to read.....I really enjoyed Elizabeth Gilbert's 'journey': EAT, PRAY, LOVE....

Now I will go get some much needed beauty sleep as it is late at night in my part of the world...

Okay, I don't usually talk much about what I'm wearing and stuff like that but I have been shopping a couple of times and my wardrobe feels SO much better!

I was Goddess today, Baby!!!

My new curve hugging Lee's, black with pinstripes; white shirt with a very light, thin black cardigan with 3/4 sleeves and a neat design on the cuffs...it ties at the waist so it's snazzy; black platform shoes to show off painted toenails, sexy thumb ring on the left hand, two other rings on the right, and wedding ring of course; Indian and buffalo cuff bracelet, and even earrings! Clip-ons, I've never had pierced ears. Oh yeah, and sexy black "Wonder Bra" type bra.

Make-up...check!

Hair jewelry....check!

So I "Goddessed" my way to the tax office and then to my Doberman's.

DIL and I decided that Goddess Day would be Sunday. Everyone is SO excited!!! It will be a lot of fun. Grandma's gonna be there, too!
