I have problems! LOL. Your whole post comes across as a man hating diatribe.

And FTR, while the pro lifers on that thread would like all children to be saved, we recognized the very traumatic issue of rape and clearly stated that abortion should not be outlawed in those cases. Therefore there really was no need for such a post.

Based on your explanation, I have no problem removing the quote.

I had no idea this was so. It changes my views quite a bit. I appreciate being able to learn something new here out of all the high emotional posts. Thank You!

Had I realized this I would have never posted what I did.

SK, I am glad we put that to rest.

One thing I will suggest to you is that the sole person on the thread that suggested a desire to outlaw all abortions (and his, Shinethrough, demeanor is anything but argumentative) has a wife that was raped and carried the child to term and put it up for adoption. I would think this is an ideal that not everyone could handle...and I understand that. I hate any type of abuse and know how heinous sexual assault is to both the body and spirit.

I hope that even if you don't change your mind on the issue, that you will soften your stance about men that are pro life. I care as much for all life as any woman could. The fact that I have not been blessed with the ability to carry a child in no way diminishes my sincerity when it comes to this or any other issue involving children.

Again, thanks for clearing that stuff up.

Men should have no opinion at all about it, it is not thier body! So why do they have an opinion unless they got a woman pregnant and really really want to raise the baby....even then it is the woman's choice even then.

Why do men even get involved at all in fighting to make abortion illegal?"

SK,

I think you are being totally unfair to men in your thinking here.

Two reasons I could think of that a man might care about abortion laws:

1. Because they are fathers and abortion DOES affect them.

2. Because they believe a "fetus" is alive and deserves as much protection from physical harm as it would receive 1 minute after birth.

If we are to follow your reasoning here, then only those who might possibly be touched by something should have a right to vote about it. Think about this...

If that were the case, would we have ever had:

child labor laws
programs put in place to help the homeless or the abused or the elderly

It is because we are compassionate that things can happen to make change.

You are compassionate towards women who suffer through an unwanted pregancy (and in the case you site, a horrific pregnancy, I'm sure).

I have been the victim of sexual abuse. I'm still pro-life. Why? Because my perpetrator's wrongs don't justify me harming a baby.

If your friend had aborted her child, you do realize that her scars would still be there. Perhaps, she was a poor mother because of the damage the rape caused to her, not because she carried the child full term. Perhaps she was a poor mother because she was not permitted to give the child up for adoption. Do you see that the damage came from the RAPE, not the child? There were other choices that could have been made, healthy choices for her to heal from the trauma of rape, choices that didn't include another life being destroyed.

I am sure that carrying the child was incredibly painful for her. However, there is no guarantee that aborting it would have cause her less pain.

Sometimes there is no way around the consequences of someone else's horrific actions. We're all here on MB proving that, aren't we?

Our spouses chose to violate our marriage vows. That violation has led to consequences that the BS must suffer. It us unfair, unjust, and the pain is incedibly deep and scars us for life.

I am honestly not sure how I feel about abortion in the case of rape. But let's face the truth, those account for a small percentage of the billions of babies killed through abortion. I know many friends from high school who had abortions. Why? Because they chose to have sex and our country has provided a way for them to avoid the consequences of their choice.

It's just another way to condition us to NOT take responsibility for our actions.

How about:

You hold your miscarried 13-week baby in your hand. See her hands and feet and face. Then, and only then, will you have enough facts to make an informed decision on abortion.

Been there, done that.... And she was tiny...but beautfiful.

Sorry MEDC. I couldn't let it rest.

I've avoided the other thread because I didn't want the added emotions of this topic. But I saw your name on this one, so I had to come and see what was up. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Guess that was a mistake if I was trying to avoid any stirring of my emotions.

Freed him 2 hide in lonely desperation,

heres what I'm about

the use of this board (read abuse)

the fact this board offers its guests the option to create tag-lines....

then someone taking something...someone said...completely out of context and using it in their tagline....
for the ONLY sake creating controversy...

THAT is just over the top in my opinion...

that ******had to come to her defense in such a way
that********would use the boards priveledges to stealthy feed his NON marriage builders agenda....

read pot stirring ..there are hundreds of abortion debate boards at there...have at the futility of them folks...
abortion DEBATES get no where.....

The tag line Obviously had more to it from the get go...
there isn't anyone with any sort of brain function could not have seen that from the second it appeared

NEGATIVELY
ACCUSATORY
but very indirectly

and ofcourse it wasn't painful for*********to do..

****************edit**********

It's all fair game...

be ready to defend every and any little snippet any of you post...
cause it can just turn in to fodder for others...

in its lowest denominator

amd these WE statements..

the WE statments make me cringe...

That's one of the reasons I declined participation in the current one.

Religious debates likewise go nowhere.

I'm more interested in Marriage Building.

Thanks for clarifying Ark - I thought you were just being a biatch and I'm glad you weren't.

the men involved are not aiming to remove the woman's right
they are trying to uphold the baby's right not to be killed

if you view the baby as part of the woman's body, then the men would be restricting womens rights

but if you view the baby as an innocent person, and believe that no innocent person should be killed, then the infringement of the woman's right to not have a baby is merely an unfortunate consequence

Agreed. I feel as though I should put some sort of "MB Resume" in my profile or sigline, so that everyone can determine whether I know what I'm talking about before they reply 2 me.

Best advice I've ever given: Never take advice!
