Saw this a while back in the news.
What a pig and tramp.
I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

Follows the same script unfortunately, deny, deny, deny until proof is right in their faces.
Sad for the family, especially the wife.

He won't resign and he'll likely be reelected.
All the media coverage is seen as the suburbanites attacking THEIR guy.
On the news last night the protestors supporting and defending Kwamye were actually fighting and videotaping each other.
Detroit politics are just outrageous and corrupt.
They also reported last night that within the last two months he went to speak at a Jesse Jackson (I think) event in the Southeast. He charged to the City of Detroit a private massage for two...and, it was reported that the woman was NOT his wife nor his affair partner.
In the past he and his family have been caught privately using drug repo'd cars and running up city tabs at strip joints.
However, all the media exposure and "investigations" make him a celebrity in Detroit just like the ex-criminal Mayor Coleman Young.
I strongly suspect He'll just be reelected again and again. He's only 37 years old so we could be stuck with this loser forever.

The propblem is, the African American community frequently fails to take one of their own to task. Al Sharpton, Kwame, Marion Barry,John Street, Wilson Goode, etc...they are failures and should be held to higher standards, yet for some reason continue to garner support from their constituents.

This is your opinion and not an ACCURATE statement. Among my cohorts, these men are not supported. Plus, this is not particularly true of the African-American community moreso than other racial and/or ethnic group in this country.

Mimi, it is an accurate statement and it does seem to run amok in the AA community. There are a lot of reasons for it...and they are not universal to AA's. But it is the AA community that looks to these men as leaders...that have re-elected them after disgraceful, and sometimes criminal actions. It is, IMO, a reflection of the distrust of the "system." It would explain the manner in which a large segment of the AA community reacted when OJ was found not guilty. This is also reflected in the outlandish reactions to other perceived injustices in the community. (Think LA and Chicago riots). Mimi, I am all for looking at the AA community with empathetic eyes. It is not possible for me to not see the issues that I outlined above being somewhat unique to the AA community.

Consider that there are DIFFERENT segments of the African-American community and you may be referring to the views of those of US that are more urban, inner-city and/or lower class. This is not the community in which I belong. The MEDIA tends to focus on ONE segment, not those of US with actual power and influence because of economic advantages. Consider why Jesse Jackson is actually NO LONGER in POWER in our community. Nor is he (and the others you speak of) highly regarded at all. This is a direct result of his infidelity and fathering of a child in that relationship.
