then Mike would be free to seek transforming our republic to a theocracy.

Obviously there is severe lack of knowledge about our system of government to even suggest this could happen.

If it going to be a Clinton/McCain race...

I'll still take McCain.

What he did to his ExW, is pathetic... But the fact remains it was 3o years ago.

I hope I never see a Clinton on the front lawn of my White House ever again.

Clinton (Billy boy) for example... Elected president, Commander and Chief by appointment. Is not held to the same standard, he infact requires from his own military in regard to rules and regulations.

Do as I say not as I do. Firing members of the Joint Chiefs for "inappropriate relationships" only months before his own charges were brought out. KNOWING, he would have lied to the end if it not for proof.

Never capable of leading by example.

Hillary has been the agenda for 8 years.

I'd be willing to wager they do not have a "Loving" relationship. It is nothing more than a M of convience for the both of them.

jkp,

Yep, I think she stayed married so it wouldn't damage her future political aspirations.

I cannot vote for McCain. . . His adultry hasn't ended, he is married to his wistress. It shows me that not only did he show poor judgement in having an affair, he failed to learn from his mistake and make things whole for his legit. wife.

Wow.

Bill Clinton is a philanderer.

Philandering and romantic affairing are different breeds of the behavior entirely. People who use these boards should know better than anyone. No, neither is more or less excusable than the other, but the character of the perpetrators is altogether distinct.

Mind-reading Hillary Clinton's motives is gossipy, hateful, and unbecoming of anyone who claims to care about ethics.

I guess I don't understand the Clinton hate, or the aspersions cast on their marriage. I think they've stayed together through his philandering because of genuine feelings for one another, and the desire for an intact family. Not so hard to understand.

Anyway, I hope that Hillary gets the nod, because I would like to vote for her. She gets high marks for her work as senator, and she shows a good grip on the issues, IMHO.

Well, there obviously is more to this story. John McCain and his ex-wife are on good terms. She is supporting his run for president. In addition, she says that she was well taken care of by her ex and that the reason for their divorce is that John wanted to be 25 again.

I will have a hard time voting for John McCain...and I hope we are presented with a better option...but if the choice comes down to a pro abortion, Hilary Clinton or Barack Obama...I will go with McCain.

The Clintons are criminals and about the most immoral people our country has ever seated in the White House.(Larry Lawrence, Dan Lasater, Rose law Firm, Gary Johnson, Jennifer Flowers...etc, etc).

I agree, he is a philanderer, without morals or ethics.

I believe there was recently a thread that was discussing how a man can be called a slut?

As for being hateful or gossipy... I've happily seved half of my life in this countries military. Where under the UCMJ, I was not allowed to make a disrepectful comment regarding the Commander-in-Chief.

I can now speak my mind, and chose to voice "my opinion".

Gotta love that law.

But, if you want to see/hear gossipy, and unbecoming, just watch or listen to any of the presidental canidates attack each other publicly. Or watch how Gov. Clinton disrespects her boss, the current President publicly.

Like him or not, "W" is the president, and should be respected as such. That is coming from someone who is not a fan of many of the decisions that have been made since 9/11.

Man.... I broke my own rule getting involved in discusion about religion or politics.

Anyone ever heard the song "Gingrich the Newt" by the Austin Lounge Lizards?

I have a question.....everyone seems to be bragging about being the most conservative or liberal or complaining because of the same issues. What about the centrists? The moderates?

Why is there no one who can find a compromise or balance? I can't find a candidate anywhere with whom I have peace.

Oh, and I nearly cracked up when I heard an African American man interviewed on the radio today and he said he was an Obama supporter because he thought the US was too much 'in the stone age' to be lead by a woman. Uh?

I believe that America is right of center.

The Democrat party has to pull just as far right as the Republican party has to pull left.

How come the politicians can't just tell us the truth?

I know, you can't answer that. No one can. Especially not the politicians. But, wouldn't it be nice to think you could really figure out where they stand.

Besides, none of them has a lot of power in most situations. They only have real power by banding together.

Oh, and I thought this was interesting....I know wikipedia is not a great source for info....but..... kucinich stuff/bio

The reason is that "activists" in both parties are most likely to participate as a higher percentage during the nominating process, independents much less so. The activists in both parties are more concentrated at the extremes of the continuum. Therefore, to win nomination, a candidate must pander to the extremists in order to win. Conversely, in the general election, one needs to attract centrists and moderates. It's an old political "truism". For the nomination, move to the (right/left), but for the general election, move to the center. Therein lies the hypocrisy of our system. It encourages deception and lying.

Because by and large, Americans aren't interested in the truth. They are only interested in what they can get. That's why social security has not been fixed, nor will it until it's an emergency.

Political expediency is the name of the game. Until Americans stop treating politics like professional sports, this will continue. Case in point, poll after poll says Americans think the economy is bad, yet when asked as to their personal circumstances, an overwhelming majority says things are good. Why the difference? Politicians and the mainstream media.

I don't think it is lying when one compromises on what he wants to get done.

For example, President Reagan challenged from the right. But, he was willing to compromise on his agenda.

Amen to that! It galls me when people gripe about crooked politicians and then vote for some dishonest politician like McCain or Clinton. If voters would start using some intelligence in their voting choices, things might change. And I put myself at the top of that list, I used to be uninformed and stupidly just voted for whomever my party put forth. I learned my lesson on the clintons and won't make that mistake twice. That is why I won't vote for a McCain or a clinton or a Guiliani. Character very much DOES count, most especially in a position of power.

Yet, when McCain has done that, he is labeled a 'traitor' by the far right. <img src="/ubbt/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />

He doesn't compromise on HIS agenda.

He does EXACTLY what he wants to.

I don’t want a GOP candidate who challenges from the left and compromises on the Democrat agenda.

Well, it depends on WHAT they are compromising. I am not impressed with someone who will compromise their principles for political expediancy, and often that is a trait of so called "centrists." A "centrist" is usually someone who will compromise any principle and avoids ever taking a stand so they won't ever have to defend their position. I have much more respect for an ardent liberal [the opposite of my stance] because they have the courage to state their position and don't hide behind a mask of indecision.
