I have all cell phone bills and want to transfer data from Adobe PDF search results for specific phone #'s to make it easier for someone to see info.

All files I have are in PDF format and I can search for specific #'s and want to include this instead of copying the whole bill which are several pages for each month and I have over 12 months.

I think you should be able to highlight the text in a pdf doc.

What is your question, exactly?

I am trying to generate something using only the search results for phone #'s associated w/ OM and details of the calls to a file to just show the contact, date, time and length of call.

I can highlight the event and sometimes be able to transfer but others I just get computer code.

I dont want to show the whole bill and make everyone have to read through months of contact.

Hope that makes sense

I don't think you can copy PDF into Excel and have it go into cells for you to sort.

What you can do is highlight what you want and copy it into a Word document. To highlight in PDF there is a button at the top called "Select Text" and you can highlight what you want that way.

The other thing you could do is highlight all of the PDF document, copy it into a Word document and then take out what you don't want from there.

You can also highlight the text, copy/paste to Excel and then use the "text to columns" function under the data menu. Then sort by the phone number and delete the ones you don't want, resort by the date and you should have a list of only the numbers you want.

Newdg,

I can relate.

I too have old phone bills

They hurt to look at

Each time you see OM's # it's like a hot knife in your gut

I found that cutting, pasting and manipulating the "data" to try and somehow come to terms with it didn't help.

I just put it away into a sealed envelope for later.

The information is toxic to you right now.

Each time you see it you can feel Lovebank withdrawals.

Each time you see that # your anger at your WW will grow.

You already KNOW what she's been doing

With utmost care and support, I strongly urge you to

put it away for now...

There may come a time when you need it

...but not now...

I just posted on my thread and I am not sure what to believe anymore L2F.

I did all the cutting and pasting and it seems so haphazard I am confused.

Thanks - Take a look if you get time and share your thoughts I just wanted to have proof when exposing to employer.

You can convert a pdf to excel fairly easily using the text import wizard.

1. In Step 1 of the Text Import Wizard;
Select Delimited.
Delimited means that row and column fields are separated by some form of data (e.g. commas or semicolons) which you specify.
The other option is Fixed Width, which is when the fields are separated by fixed amounts of space.
For Fixed Width, you manually select the column widths.
Select Start import at row: 1
Select File Origin: Windows (ANSI).
Select Next>.

2. In Step 2 of the Text Import Wizard;
The most common tables will have only tab selected for Delimiters.
The options you should choose may vary from table to table so you may want to try different options while viewing the preview of your table.
Once you've selected the best options for your table, select Next>.

3. In Step 3 of the Text Import Wizard;
Adjust the Column Data Format if need be.
Select Finish.

4. Your table will appear in the correct format.
Adjust any extra properties if necessary.
Save your document, under Save As Type: select Microsoft Excel Workbook. This will give it an .xls extension.
from there you can sort your data as needed.

If you get really stuck, email me and I will help you

Thanks JustKim,

I will try to redo the spreadsheet, I did use the tips that were previously given and was able to get things done but it looks like a mess.

Thanks All
