Hi has anybody had the experience where they have found their spouse to be an alcoholic after the affair. I have been married for 3 years and during the cause of the marriage we have had a lot of uncalled for arguments. Since my infidelity I found that my wife is an alcoholic and have read a lot on this topic, mood swings, uncontrollable anger etc. I am trying to work on the marriage, but I am physically away from her working overseas until June. She has said when I get back we can start working on the marriage, I am placing a lot of my faith in myself having recognized a number of issues with my behaviour and the fact that she will have been sober for 6 months and that the anger and sudden outburst may have subsided.

So does anybody have any ideas about the Alcoholic side?
I would have been apart from her for 6 months by then, is that a good idea or should I return earlier?

Hi Harman,

What is your W doing to address her alcoholism? Did she call herself an alcoholic or do you think she is?

mood swings, uncontrollable anger

Could these, perhaps, have anything to do with her reaction to your infidelity?

Not enough information given, but I will comment that my alcohol consumption has increased substantially since D-day. While some of it could be attributed to the lifestyle changed thrust upon me (as a "single" person I have drinks with friends far more frequently), I can't deny that the majority is part of my response to the whole infidelity nightmare. I have had no sudden angry outbursts or arguments but my WSTBX is no longer at home. If he was, I'd definitely be arguing angrily more and drinking less.

She went into re-hab abd discovered for herself that she was an Alcholic, she has been an alcholic apperntly for the last 10 years, she is now 90 days sober, the angry outburst have been right through our marriage.
