I think it's important to look for what YOU like, not including the kids in that equation. Something just for you. When we focus solely on the kids, I think we lose parts of ourselves, parts that certainly existed before they ever came along.
You've been in this marriage for a long time, and may have lost yourself to it. Working on the inside could bring you back to the surface.
I just wonder what SC will do when the kids fly the coop. Is there anything you've always wanted to try?

Well since the empty nest is just around the corner (my youngest is almost 17) i wonder that myself. I can't really think of anything that i am just dying to do. I don't think i have lost myself because as i said i have been this way for as long as i can remember (maybe i am wrong). I really do not feel like i have missed out on anything. I love my kids and have had many wonderful memories with them that i would not change for the world. I really am a pretty boring person. I go to work, go home, take care of my kids, go to bed and start all over the next day. Heck maybe that is why my H had an affair to begin with.

Before my husaband's affair i was EXTREMELY happy, life was GREAT to me. I just need to get over the stupid thing and maybe i will be happy again. But to me that is on the inside not the outside. I truly do not care about how i look or how my house looks only that i am a good person. That is all i care about.

Last night, I ventured to the drugstore like that...wasn't too bad...
I drove past WALMART though..
I'd rather pay a higher price than to go through that TRAUMA..

I am not sure why i posted here today. I ALWAYS read the goddess posts and they make me laugh at myself because i am so ungoddess like. It has always been something that everyone in my family says stuff about. They can not believe that as "girlie" as ALL the other women in my family are i have no "girlie" tendencies at all.
And i have not ever felt sexy. I wear sexy nighties when the time calls for it but like i said before i have no outstanding features, i have ABSOLUTELY no breasts to speak of and i just do not feel like i am a sexy person.

I completely get not needing to dress up or do your hair and all that jazz as something that may not float your boat. My concern is that you don't seem to have ANY personal needs. I think being with my son is one of the best things in the world, but I am also a parent, teaching him the skills he will need to survive WITHOUT me someday; to thrive on his own.
I am in no way saying that mothering and being a good wife does not satisfy many women. I was very happy being a wife and mother. I liked to take care of my family. I also enjoyed exercise, and gardening, and music and friends and work, etc. Now, I have added a new found love for clothes, jewelry, and makeup. I've always liked to cook, bake, and entertain. I'm really just curious.

I will get out of the bed, put my shoes on and go to the store without even brushing my hair (I do at least brush my teeth) or washing my face. It really is not a big deal to me.

SC...just to let you know...there are a lot of people out there that find the simple "ungoddess like" women the most attractive. Personally, I am attracted to a woman...not the make up and paint that can transform her into something she doesn't truly resemble.
IMHO, the bottom line is being happy with who you really are.
