I'm glad that sharing has helped you and you are very welcome. We have been married 21 years (20 at the time of the EA) and have one son. My husband is 42 and I am 43. Our son is 19 and has global developmental delay. If you don't mind sharing, I would like to hear more about your son's situation.
I know you already have your share of stress, but I am a little concerned by two things you mention. First, that your husband had a face-to-face meeting with her to end contact rather than sending a no-contact letter. I was able to read my husband's letter, knew exactly what it said, and knew it got sent because I mailed it. It would have been harder for me to trust that he had really ended it if I hadn't been part of the process. Second, they still see each other at work. Is there any way that he can find a different job or get a transfer that would ensure they don't have contact? I know a lot of people balk at this part of marriage builders, but I would have driven myself (and my husband) crazy if I had to imagine them still seeing each other, much less on the same turf that spawned the affair to begin with. I won't lie. It caused some financial hardship for us when he had to quit so abruptly, but that was a small price to pay for the peace of mind and recovery of our marriage. Dr. Harley's article on how an affair should end stresses the importance of no contact again... ever, and I buy into that notion whole heartedly.
Thank you for sharing the love quotes. I enjoyed them enough to share one of my favorites: "We like someone because, we love someone although." We are going away for the weekend, so I do expect to be having some fun. Hope you have a good weekend as well!
