Well, we just moved my wifes parents into an assisted living facility. We both think it is the best thing for them, and hopefully it will relieve some of the stress my wife has had for the past several years, and especially the last year.

My wifes mother probably has less than a year to live, and who knows how it is going to affect her husband ( wifes father ). And, selfishly, who knows how it will affect our relationship. Will this actually improve things between us?

We keep telling ourselves that we are staying married for the sake of our children, as well as not wanting to put any undo stress on our parents. But friends who I have spoken to all tell me that we need and deserve to be happy ourselves, and that our parents would want us to be happy...even if it means no longer being married. Although, when I try to think if it was my daughter who was in an unhappy marriage, then I as the parent would want her to be happy and not worry about me.

I am so torn as to what to do. While I don't like the idea of being another divorced statistic, I just don't know if I will ever again have true loving feelings for my wife, or if she will ever have those same feelings for me.

I am debating whether to try to talk to another therapist, this time just by myself. My wife says I need to talk to another one. But why? I guess I am just too scared to take the next step.

Hope you will jump over to emotional needs or general questions II. We always suggest giving the marriage a good try using marriagebuilder plans, so you can look back in 5 years without regret.

By the way, you aren't having a close friendship with another woman are you?

So build on that. Why not propose that since you guys are staying together for others, why not try to do it in the happiest way possible. With each of you meeting the other's needs and eliminating Love Busters.

What do you have to lose doing it this way?
