So, I have been wanting to get certified in Jazzercise for like ever now. I started doing it in the early 90's and where I live now (for the past 12+ years) there are no classes. I would have a perfect opportunity in my area to teach it. For those who do not know what it is, go to www.jazzercise.comWell, I would like to attempt to get certified either late this fall or maybe next January. BUT, at that time there are no certifications going on in my state. SO, I would be going to another state, which is totally fine to do, to go to workshop. Who might like to help out a fellow MBer and possibly have a guest for 2 nights while I go to this workshop? OR, could help me find accomidations as I am not real familiar with a lot of areas. Almost all states have workshops. Some of the ones I saw that were ocuring in late fall, or in January included Georgia, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan.. Just to name a few. Any takers wanna help me out?? I think it would be totally fun! mlhb

Ok, here are some workshops I could probably be ready for:
The further out in date, the better honestly, it gives me more time to be sure I am ready. See, you have to be screened by another instructor 2 months prior to the workshop, then send in your franchise fee and the contracts, and the workshop is about 6 weeks after that.
NOVEMBER: Conway, Ark Annapolis, Maryland Ft. Lauderdale, FL Knoxville, TN Brighton,Mich Cleveland, Ohio Pittsburgh, PA Quad Cities, IL Kansas City, KS
DECEMBER: Dallas, Tx
JANUARY: Austin, TX Norwalk, CT Jefferson and Mishawaka, Indiana
FEBRUARY: Kansas City, KS Houston, TX
So, there ya have it. I thought actual locals may make it easier.

MHLB:
Let me ask you a question.
Why Jazzerize?
Please add up all the costs your going to incur to be ready to teach your FIRST CLASS.
And then tell me how much the franchise for Jazz is going to offset that, and then, allow you to make more money faster.
If your ready to lead exercise classes, J-z can help with the program and or process, BUT it will be MHLB running the whole thing. You
I'm an accountant. I ask my clients tough questions. It's up to you to make the choice to go into business. One of my most successful clients faced the choice of "buying" an existing business for 50k, and taking over, and I asked them, "What are you getting and what would you get if YOU spent the 50k on what you needed for YOUR business?" They were up and running, in a better location, for less than $20k. The other business just eventually closed. That storefront is still vacant, three years later.

all good questions LG.
The franchise cost is very cheap, only 1000.00
I have thought about doing my own classes BUT I am so busy I don't know how much time I would have to actually make up routines.
Jazzercise will provide all of the choreography and music. I don't have to think, just learn. I don't need much equipment at all. I would have to pay rent wherever I teach. I do have to pay 20% of my gross monthly to Jazzercise. I have some other minor yearly costs as well. It would be as successful as I make it be I feel.
BUT, I do still swirl around the idea of just doing my own classes as well and that thought has not totally left my brain either.
