I need your opinions. After wanting to be a teacher all my life and finally being one for the past 9 years. I'm burned out and want a new career. Problem I haven't really done anything else. I don't want a jobjust to get by I want a career. I went to Haldane marketing consultants. They will work with me one on one to transfere my skills and abilities from teaching to the business world, they work with you every step of the way interviewing, resumes getting the right interview getting the right person to see your resumes, finding the right career that fits your ability, you name they do it. But it is expense not that bad but I'm on a limited income. But the bottom line is I don't want a low paying job that I hate for the rest of my working time. Does this sound like a good job. Guess I want some one to tell me I'm crazy or that this is a good thing. My decision making skills are alittle wobbly right now. I wouldn't be in this situation if H was still with me. So I guess it does have to do with the affair. HELP!!! Your imput Please!!!!
------------------
di

[This message has been edited by SDS (edited October 14, 1999).]

Remember, if you stop teaching you stop getting summers OFF!!! (that would be a big draw for me, but I hate kids) (my own are the exception of course!)
What about going into school administration? You'd still have the education background, but be doing something different ... I don't know much about school systems, but is that possible?
What about school counseling?

Thanks Maya, butit would take me two ot three years of school full time to get my credentials. I need something now. H doesn't make enough money to survive on it was my paycheck that kept us a float, and he won't help me at all. I'm left with the huge housepayment( I'm trying to sell the house and son's prescriptions that insurance doesn't cover ( he has a lot of med. for rejections) There is no way I could find a teaching job now. Too late and I think I'm ready to move on. Teaching was great but too much is going on in the schools that frustrates and scares me. I don't think I could handle the classroom for another 12 years.
------------------
di

Understood.
Your best bet, then, is that marketing consultant. Maybe they will work out a payment plan ... or maybe the employer they find for you will pay the fee???
Do you have a friend/relative that can loan you the money?
And you need to GO AFTER your H for money for your son! Garnish him if you have to. That's NOT right for him to leave you high and dry like that.
Good luck, di.
