Team In Training Website

Here's the scoop as I see it.

Team In Training is the world's largest endurance sports training program. They will train you to complete the event of your choice - not to be competitive but to finish vertical.

I have foot issues, a bad knee, hip issues, arthritis in my spine, and 2 herniated disks in my neck. And, I did a half-marathon last year. Was in various kinds of physical distress at time to sign up for the marathon here this year.

My daughter would like to do the Nike Marathon for Women in October but I don't think that will work for us. She would also like to do the San Antonio one which is the weekend of her 18th birthday.

So the breakfast this morning was to create desire to do the Nike so we could get the limited edition Tiffany necklace they award instead of medals. And our fundraising goal would be $4,000 per person. Two people. You do the math.

I do not have a family member with this leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, or any other blood cancer - THANK GOD. However, I worked with a man who had lymphoma. He did not survive but I did the Country Music Half Marathon in his honor in April 2007 which was a couple of months before he died.

Their coaches can work with you to get from your current status to completing the race. And, trust me, we had members on our team who were in worse shape than me.

If you start training now, you have time to get there by October. San Francisco is hilly but not cable-car hilly. San Antonio in mid-November is flat. San Francisco has Tiffany necklaces. San Antonio has medals. San Francisco may be sold out unless you do it through Team In Training because they hold spots for TNT members.

Yeah, the store where I went for breakfast is about 6 miles from my house.

Here is my photo in a $6000 pair of diamond and pearl earrings and a $25,000 necklace. I did try on a $136,000 diamond ring which fit perfectly. A 3 carat oval colorless diamond w/ a half carat diamond on either side.

The thing is, though, that I was wearing over $30,000 worth of jewelry. But, I will never own that stuff. You know, if I'd never stopped working, if x hadn't left, if so many things.....I could at least have owned those earrings. Not that I would ever have wanted them....something smaller and less expensive would have been fine. Their earrings, after all. But, x leaving removed those possibilities.

However, I'm happier w/out him at home. I don't miss him as I now see him. I miss things he made possible.

But, when I'm not busy screwing up my life for myself, I am far happier now in so many ways.

My children are 15 and 17 now. They were 2 and 4 when their dad left. Though they love their dad, they are beginning to see what he is.....A few weeks ago, he managed one of his displays of dogmatism and arrogance and ugliness aimed at one of the children. When they got home from an evening at his house, my son said to me, "I can see why you weren't happy being married to him." The thing is, I thought (in my denial) that I was happy. I know that I loved him. But, I can't figure out why.

Oh, and if Team In Training didn't want me to raise $4,000 for them, they wouldn't have invited me to Breakfast at Tiffany's.

Well, there is a possibility but there is no desire on my part to own things THAT expensive. You know, I could probably find some $1000 earrings that suited me as well. That weren't so heavy. They are things. Sometimes I think I have too many things. Not that I have all the things I would like. I just am not in a place right now to want more things. I'd rather have someone come take care of my yard.

How about if the person who takes care of your yard, buys you "THINGS"????? Don't LIMIT your POSSIBILITIES!!!

Ah, those earrings....can you imagine how many ways I could find to lose one of them? And just how many places would you wear that kind of necklace. If the person who did my yard chose to give me that stuff, I'd love it and wear it.

I would rather have some more simple earrings and travel to Egypt, the Galapagos, Hong Kong, the Grand Canyon, New Orleans, back to Australia and New Zealand. I'd rather see the world than feel anxiety over losing an earring.

Hey Chai,

This thread was started all those months ago because we were going to pick a theme. We never did do that. I think it would be nice for us to do something to help cheer us up.

What's on tap for June?

What have been your FAVORITE travel spots?

I LOVED NIAGARA FALLS! I felt like GOD was speaking to me when we road through the FALLS! I thought of the song "HOW GREAT THOU ART"..

How Great Thou Art
