Why do you want to go to NEW ORLEANS?

You, being an alcoholic, I would not recommend it...

Mostly what's left there is BOURBON ST. where the focus is BARHOPPING...

NOW, CHARLESTON, SC..that's MY FAVORITE!!

Beaver Lake, Arkansas

That's where I want to be today.

I want to be floating on the lake on an inner tube right in front of my great-uncle's cabin.

I want to dive to the bottom of the lake and watch the bubbles percolating from the spring that feeds the lake.

I want to wade and watch as the little fishes try to taste my toes.

I want to wrap up in a big towel and sit on the front deck and read a good book.

And I want to smell the greeness of the forest.

I never had to take the Kobayashi Maru test until now. What do you think of my solution?

O'hana means family, and family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.

That would take up MANY trips.

I would love to go to Scotland, Ireland and England...

I have a huge desire to go to the Nazi countries and see the sad stuff. I think it's important as a Jew....

How about you?

Cinders,

You're funny - too many things. Yes, I know exactly what you mean. In my corporate days, I used to be a "thing" collector. An old friend who I used to work with was visiting last weekend, and we were talking about all of our "things" because we used to shop together for "things." She's now a junior professor and I own a retail store so we have no money to buy "things" anymore.

Queenie, Mimi

I agree, we need to do a theme this month. I love travel too, but I'm broke for a while so won't be doing any travelling. I travelled a lot in my corporate days and I sometimes miss it. Right now I would love to go to a beach. I've been cooking a lot this week, so how about a gourmet theme month. We can trade recipes. Yesterday I made Eggplant Canneloni which is great!

Queenie,

I lived in Germany for 4 years but never had a desire to see any of the camps. Too sickening. Hard to believe that stuff like that really happened.

Yummy Eggplant Cannaloni.... I want that one....

It's a dream vacation. You think I am traveling on my budget. smile

Seriously, let's dream now and see what we can create for ourselves. We need to plan our futures, not just wait around.

As for Germany, I understand what you are saying, but this is my heritage. I need to experience it for no other reason.

I understand Germany is very beautiful. But that is one place where I will never visit. The whole death camp thing is too sickening. And I realize that it would have happened in any country, but it didn't.

I worked with a man who freed the camps at the end of WWII, and the pictures I saw are burned into my brain for life.

I think we all should go on a cruise. Maybe just a short one.

I have been to Dachau. It was an incredibly tragic place, with the irony of green grass, flowers, and sunshine. I felt as if it ought to always be dark there, not warm, beautiful, and quiet.

It makes me think of the time of trouble mentioned in Daniel 12:1, which will be even worse than the camps, worse than anything ever before, but as God's people we will be delivered.

Cruises are much happier than anything you can find in Germany. And in my dream world, Israel is safe to visit and go anywhere in the country without a worry.
