My husband and I have been together for 7 1/2 years, since I was 18 and he was 19. We got married almost 2 years ago, and agreed that we wanted to wait at least a year before having children. It seems that since the first year of our marriage passed, we can't seem to get on the same page about when to start a family.
He wants it, I don't. Then I want it and he doesn't. He has always had an enormous fear of me getting pregnant before we were financially able to handle it, and even though we make more money now than we ever have before, he is still afraid. So much so that he will not have sex with me without any kind of birth control. I just don't understand how he can let this fear overtake him so much that he refuses to be intimate with me. I shouldn't have to beg or plead with the man that pledged to join his life with me forever to want to sleep with me, and I will not. So that is why I am currently sleeping on our couch while he sleeps in our bedroom. If this continues, I really do not know how much longer I can stay in our home. Please help !

Are you insisting that your husband have sex with you w/o birth control? If he's not ready to start a family, you have to honor that. Discuss it with him like an adult. If he's worried about the cost, then sit down and run an analysis on what a baby costs versus how much extra $$ you have. See if it makes sense for you financially or what you would have to give up. You can't give the baby back once he/she gets here and you realize your bank account is going in the red.

How much are you saving each month? If you're not saving at least 10% in regular savings plus 401k/IRA, you should get this in order before you go anywhere. Live on the 90%, and you should be ok.

That said, sleeping on the couch? Whose decision was that? Honestly, that sounds a little silly and immature, as in adults should be able to honestly negotiate what they want in a marriage without tearing each other down, and getting to the point that one has to move out of the bedroom.

As I am understanding it, it's not that he doesn't want to be intimate with you....he doesn't want to have sex without birth control. So simple fix - use birth control. Wait to have a child until you both agree.

You sleeping on the couch seems rather manipulative. Were you hoping he'd miss you and break down, risking pregnancy?

a) His fears about having a baby without being able to afford it need to be addressed, and resolved. What are his fears? Are they understandable? Do they include deep-rooted FOO (family of origin) issues?;
b) Planning and a concerted mutual effort toward realizing budget goals set in place;
c) Find parenting classes, or read books on parenting together.

Consider how hard it is to change yourself and you'll understand what little chance you have in trying to change others.
