I've got a more important question for Appy and JL:

Did either of you guys try 2 make a go of it with one of those 0.3mm leaded mechanical pencils?

I always thought that sounded like a good idea. I had a 0.5mm Pentel for like ever. Used it for mapping in the field. Hated 0.7mm pencils. They felt like when you're a kid and they give you those big crayons at school 2 draw with? You know, the fat ones that are flat on one side so they don't roll off your desk?

But anyway, a 2ple of times I tried 2 map with 0.3mm pencils, and I either would keep breaking those silly little leads, or push them back up in2 the place where leads magically come from (I'm pretty sure storks aren't involved).

I used my dad's Keufel and Esser slide rule for a 2ple years, until he bought one of the first HP 35 calculators. I was the envy of my Mechanics and Sound class! Next most sophisticated hardware a friend was packing was a Bomar Brain. Couldn't do trig functions.

These 2 hydrogen atoms are chatting over coffee one morning:

1st H atom: "I've lost my electron."

2nd H atom: "Are you sure?"

1st H atom: "I'm positive."

This thread reminds me of a song. Not that any of you could relate. grin

What A Wonderful World
Sam Cooke, James Taylor

Don't know much about history,
don't know much of biology.
Don't know much about a science book,
don't know much about the french I took.

But I do know that I love you,
and I know that if you love me, too,
what a wonderful world this would be.

Don't know much about geography,
don't know much trigonometry.
Don't know much about algebra,
don't know what a slide rule is for.

But I know that one and one is two,
and if this one could be with you,
what a wonderful world this would be.

Mine too, Mims. I hung out with the brains/geeks but dated those most likely not to succeed. Still trying to figure that one out. crazy

Must have thought it was romantic to date the Fonzies. Actually, I kind of married one, too.

Me too! I dated some really "nice" guys, but lost my heart to the Fonz.

So, yet more proof nice guys finish last?

I think I never even entered the race, actually.

2L,

.3mm is indeed a pain. 9mm Mauser though. Now there is a field tool.

Hmmmm, one should be careful here.

If using base 2, one and one is one zero.

In Bayes inferencing one and one is one.

In procreation, one and one is often three (or more).

In adultery one and one is just two of the loneliest number.

What set you off this time?

Is it fair for me to ask that?

Do I appear lit?

Don't feel ignited.

Just an old lingering feeling, I guess. And there are so very few (like two or three) FWW who's answers I think I can trust.

laugh Oh YEAH!

2L,

Yup, .3mm was too small for me, heck I had a hard time reloading the pen without breaking the lead.

All I can say is "You youngsters". smile The HP35 came out while I after some grad school and few years in the military. $400 was more than I made in a month in those days. But they were cool.

AP, I'm with you. In HS I wasn't in the game at all. Although I found out years later from one of my sisters that a girl actually did like me. blush But, it was too late. It was cool though, too busy studing and playing sports as well as moving every year and having to make new friends.

Well, I just wanted to make sure you weren't trying to make me chase my tail just for giggles, yanno? laugh When I read that I was like, "Wait...If he wasn't gonna trust my answer then why did he ask me?" I thought about hunting you down and beating you with a "slide rule"...Only I haven't a clue what one of those suckers looks like! grin

Thanks for clarifying Aphelion...I appreciate it! smile

I really used the wrong terms. No, you don't appear lit.

What I should have asked, is what prompted you to post.
One would think the feelings are nearly always with you, but you don't always post. So, I wondered.

Spurts.

Triggers (sometimes unidentified).

4 years after D-Day 2 I am still curious about what it all meant.

What it was for? What was she thinking? What was I doing while Rome burned - and for so long?

Are there answers? Do any FWW have any answers for me, to any parts? (Generally, with a few exceptions, no. I find it all to be just words. I can’t seem to identify.)

Still irks me, actually, more often than not. So I post less than I used to.

Song of the hour: What Was I Thinkn' (I Know What I Was Feeln')

All good though!

With prayers,

PS: You have email (yesterday I believe it was).

This made me laugh! grin A museum? Wow! Thanks for the lesson!

Aphelion...I'd sincerely be glad to answer any question that I can for you...

Dunno if you'd find my current "mind ramblings" interesting or not...

I'm not sure if you know this or not, but my father had Bipolar Disorder...He passed away a year ago this month, during a manic episode...I'm telling you this to give you an idea of where my current thoughts began...

To my knowledge my father was not a WS, however, one of the "symptoms" of mania is "sexual promiscuity" and many people that are experiencing a manic episode do have affairs...

I have shown no signs of having Bipolar Disorder, that being said though, as a WS I certainly exhibited symptoms of "mania"...I have noticed this to be true of other WSs as well...Not sleeping as much...not eating as much...scattered thoughts...irritability...skewed sense of reality, etc...

Taking this further, I thought about the poster Larry that often posts about Phenylethylamine(PEA)and the WS...I wondered if there was a link between mania and increased levels of PEA...I googled it...It is true, there IS an increased level of PEA during Bipolar Mania...I only read briefly, as it was late, and I haven't fully thought it through, but I find it interesting as it may relate to what is called "fog" around here...dunno if you might think so too...

I honestly do believe that something chemical does go on in a WS once in the affair...I still remember very clearly getting a very strange tingling sensation between my shoulder blades at different times during that period...

Anyway, I suspect that you are much more the researcher than I...I'm not sure if that interests you or not, but thought I'd throw it out there...Perhaps you and Larry might bounce around some ideas...dunno...

Best,

Mrs. W
