Ok, long story short - H wants a divorce (already retained an attorney) and I want to work on our M. Monday is H's 35th birthday. I'm sure he doesn't want a gift from me, but I bought him a few items he needed (a wallet, work boots, and memory card for his digi camera). I always wanted to give him something from the heart so I wrote a poem. I am by no means a poet! So, I'm sharing this here for some constructive criticism...
From the moment I saw you, I knew this was real.
I couldn't deny all the love I would feel.
We would talk and talk and talk some more.
Conversation with you was never a chore.
One fateful night under the starry sky,
We knew what we were feeling from the look in our eye.
That night I fell so deeply for you.
I couldn't stop it, nor did I want to!
When we first kissed, I was all a flutter.
And when we made love, I melted like butter.
Things weren't always easy, but we'd pull through.
Our love for each other showed us what to do.
You confessed your love to me on a bridge at Phish.
You as my husband was my only true wish.
That moment was magical, our lives would become one.
Tears of joy for the future of laughter and fun.
We vowed, through good and bad, we'd love, honor, and cherish.
We never dreamed these promises would perish.
No one told us marriage wasn't always a bed of roses.
Thorns would appear right under our noses.
Time went by, but my love never waned.
Even though we'd take each other for granted when one of us complained.
The damage we did is long in the past.
The present can be better to make us last.
Our love is still strong...
We just lost sight and went wrong,
But our future is bright - full of laughter and fun.
If we take a chance to heal, and again allow two to become one.
Suggestions anyone? Thanks!
