But INFIDELITY, SEX BEFORE MARRIAGE and all that stuff DID occur..but IN SECRET...My Grandfather had an affair, I'm sure..He was born in like 1906 or something...I'm sure my parents and grandparents probably had sex before marriage...ALL OF THEM..STAUNCH BAPTISTS...
I'm so glad to have lost my naivete..
I'm not sure that stuff done IN SECRET was BETTER..maybe in some respects WORSE...probably added to the EXCITEMENT LEVEL...
I made it happen..a joyful life..filled with peace, contentment, happiness and fabulocity.

Yeah. Society as a whole. Mob rules. It's pretty much that way with just about everything. Scary, too.
Remember when divorce was rare? I remember in 6th grade a girl's parents were getting divorced and everyone walked on eggs around her. The attitude was almost like she had been diagnosed with a fatal disease.
I've noticed that there are still a few people out there who react that way when they find out I am going through one right now. Like I'm a piece of eggshell china that's going to fall and break into a million pieces all of a sudden. I guess the $64,000 question now is how do we get that horse back in the barn? The answer is embedded in your question...$$$$$$ Advertisers determine what we watch or don't watch. Vote with your wallet/purse $$$$$$$$$$.

[quote]Natasha and Big's divorce passes the "but for" test...But for Carrie and Big's affair the divorce would not have happened...Making it an "affair marriage", imo...Looking at it Biblically, Big would not have been released from his convenant since he was the WS...he would not have been "allowed" to remarry...Really anyone that he married he would have been committing adultery with...It just makes it sting MORE to me that he did end up marrying his affair partner... Ok....I see your point....BUT if biblically Big was not released from his coventant, then that would make Natasha the OP as well, seeing as though, she was his SECOND wife.....just some food for thought, or adding fuel to the fire.... Really, I get what you all are saying, and maybe, just MAYBE I was "desentisitzed" to this..... Though I still think that they portrayed the whole Carrie/Big affair well and Miranda/Steve thing well.....JMHO... Thank you Mrs. W for some clarification..... not2fun ps...Mimi, is you LOVE the shoe/clothes/purses, wait till you see the closet for Carrie in the movie..... ......though I like the closet in "Princess Diaries II" better....

I'm so glad to have lost my naivete.. Now that I am NOT so sure about....it was one of the things I mourned.....it was funny, because today I took my WS his allergy meds. and he was cleaning his office. Anyway, he came across this postcard for a seminare thing he attends (went to it the last two years, and when I first found out about the A, he told me he met her at this conference last year...). Anyway, he was showing me the card letting me see the resort where it was held. I said I know I saw it on their website. He asked why I went to the website, and I told him how I called pretending to be the OW and that I needed a copy of my receipt from my stay there for tax purposes. He kind of smiled and said that I had gotten pretty good at that "detective" stuff.....we actually kind of laughed about it.... not2fun

I guess i should have been born in another era or something because i am of the old school of you "save yourself for marriage". Yeah, I got something similar from my FWW when we were still dating and I raised the question of sex. Thing is, I was perfectly willing to wait, so I didn't push the subject any further. Then she went away to study, and within a month was having sex with one of her study partners, including on the night before returning home. Her comment to me after informing me of what she did was something along the lines of "it doesn't mean that I love you less". It sounded like a line straight out of a movie.. and it probably was. Even back then she was a boob-tube addict. I think many people, including my FWW, are very heavily influenced by what they're exposed to, whether or not it fits in with their sense of morality. Away from home, exposed to an environment where casual sex was the norm, it was a good environment for some bad choices to be made. And it didn't take her long to make them.

He kind of smiled and said that I had gotten pretty good at that "detective" stuff. That's funny, not2. WS-Gray used to tell me this BEFORE the A because of my "sniffing out crime," (long story) and he even nicknamed me McGruff (in a nice way, LOL!) Well, once the A started, somehow he totally forgot about my alter-ego, Columbo...(or, I like to say Bobby Goren from CI sometimes, LOL!) I thought it was astounding that he forgot!! Maybe "someone" upstairs made him blind to it so I could get the goods on him? I think so! Just like he, Mr. IT Administrator himself, NEVER found the keylogger program!!! LMAO!!! Divine intervention, says I. Charlotte

OK, just for the record, no I do not believe watching SITC or Desperate causes people to cheat. I do think that the steady diet of music, movies, tv shows, magazine articles, porn etc, desensitize society as a whole, making an environment where it is easier to cheat. Yeah. Society as a whole. Mob rules. It's pretty much that way with just about everything. Scary, too. Remember when divorce was rare? I had the exact same thing all typed out then erased it 'cause I didn't know if I should or wanted to bring that up. LOL

I'm becoming more convinced to see the movie... LOL Mimi, bring a notepad. The purses, the shoes, the clothes... and especially the closet were stunning. P.S. (for those who have seen it) I couldn't believe Carrie left those shoes unworn and sitting on a shelf forgotten! Not at that price.

couldn't believe Carrie left those shoes unworn and sitting on a shelf forgotten! You see, I UNDERSTAND THIS FULLY, Princess...LOL... How about even as a little girl putting your new shoes out beside your bed so that you can see them first thing when you wake up in the morning..not wanting to wear them at all..just wanting to look at them..see how PRETTY they are..all shiny with NO WRINKLES... without having been walked in...makes you feel notso nuts when there's a TV CHARACTER like you...LOL...

Before adultery happened to ME , I had a somewhat vague attitude to adultery. Informed in part by the fact that my near family had no divorces or known affairs amid them, and in part because of how the media treated it. I believe that popular entertainment that glamorises adultery helps to predispose people to thinking that , well, affairs are called LOVE affairs for a reason. Then when it hits we have a cold realisation that they should really be called "hate affairs" and that there really isn't anything glamorous about them. I think stuff like S&TC is just the emotional version of pornography. 1 Cor 10:23 "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible"—but not everything is constructive. Amen. Frankly, I fail to see how people who were once betrayed could tolerate that type of "entertainment" (and I use the word loosely). Exactly.

I couldn't believe she put a BIRD on her head! I mean, nobody expected her to go all "traditional"...(at first anyway!) but a BIRD?!?!?! That was something else.
