Just wondering what the steps were to finding a good physciatrist/or therapist for IC in the Greater Los Angeles Area.
I've heard horror stories of incompetent docs and would appreciate any assistance.

Thanks

Just wondering, a counselor for what? While shrinks can help with serious diseases, I think cognitive counseling works best - where they don't dwell on the past, but teach you to think and behave differently.

A psychiatrist does handle medically conditions - such as depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and other things that benefit from medical treatment.

A psychologist or counselor or therapist handles emotional and psychological treatment such as dealing with the ramifications of decisions. They help you 'work through' things.

Sometimes, you need both and sometimes you might need only one. Usually, if you need a psychiatrist, a counselor/therapist is a good thing to have, also.

Thanks for your replies.

I'm at the current belief that almost everyone could use some counseling to improve themselves, be it with a competent counselor.

A cognitive counseler seem interesting. Does anyone one know of a good one in the LA area?

I alway look inwards when I face certain problems and look for answer within myself. I have a special person in my life that seem to have certain issues within themselves and cannot correlate that her behavior is generally what cause her pains (not others).

As I've been through the hell of dealing with severely broken people (ex wife), I now see that most of them alway create there own pain and share that with others.

I hope that I will be able to help this person start looking within themselves for answers, yet I'm in no position to try to save anyone. That's why I've requested some help in finding a good counselor.

She is very willing to take some steps to improve, so I hope someone here can make a helpful suggestion.

Thank You
Darrin
