Having touched on some football with several posters in their threads it occurs to me that we've got some pretty big football fans around here.

With the 08 NFL season about to kick off.. I thought I'd at least create a free FFL league on yahoo for those that are interested.

the url is football.fantasysports.yahoo.com/league/marriagebldrffl

the league password is
harley

Hope I'm not breaking any ToS stuff here.. If I am, Mods.. please be gentle.. don't hurt me.. just trying to generate a fun distraction for those who may be hurting.

Ayup.. limited the number of teams to 20 just because it gets really hectic otherwise..

Until that number is reached, anyone who wants to play is welcome.

Great use of POJA Not2! smile

I figured Queenie would be all over this... Eeyore.. not sure about letting Steelers fans in.. but I'll make an exception for you.

Oh.. and folks.. seriously.. the COLTS will own this season.

Well,

I do LOVE the colts too....always told WS that Payton was my second Husband in waiting....Hmmmmm...now that I have been through this crap, won't EVER do that again....

I will say that I grew up watching the BRONCO'S though (hey, nobody from the Lou can ever admit that they were ever Cardnial fans.... sick) as my dad is an ADVID Bronco fan...so they are #2 in my book...

((((((((((((QUEENIE))))))))))))))))))

How are ya honey??? Gosh I know this is terrible, but I think of you often, and yet I keep not posting to ya....I owe you an email girl......I still love ya HONEY..... wink

but, yep, until I discuss this with WH, I can't say for sure that I am in....(he thinks I get a little "too" involved in my FF....go figure a H who gets jealous of his W's fantasy football.....there's a switch..... :o)

ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL....................

I have a silly question, will this cost money?

I still haven't gotten anything from you know who....

According to yahoo, you aren't allowed to "charge money" to join their leagues or bet money.

I'm with another FF group on yahoo that does take a pool and the "winners" get money.

But yahoo itself is free-- but you will have to sign up for a yahoo account if you don't have one yet (also free.)

I'm guessing Jamesus isn't going to collect money or anything...

Just more of an "bragging rights" kinda thing smile

Yup.. it's all just meant to be a fun distraction.. I didn't even get the super-mega-ultimate commish package.. just the free one with the basic controls needed to run the league.

No money..

My league rules are pretty easy and I'll post em on the site, and once I have at least 4 teams I'll be posting the draft date.

Automated draft, you can rank your picks yourself or use yahoo's rankings. (IMO Yahoo doesn't do a bad job unless you're up against very skilled FFL players)

I'm thinking draft day will be August 27, which gives us time to make some roster moves/adjustments before week 1 if people want to.

Smack Talk is fine, just keep it friendly.

League has 2 days to vote on trades.. normally I do a commish oversight only, but that's typically where people can come physically to me and talk to me about it.. obviously not the case here.

Players go on waivers for 2 days as well.

Team rosters are
1QB, 3WR, 2RB, 1TE, 1K, 1DEF, 6 Bench

This should leave plenty of good talent on the Free Agent market for drops and pickups.

Certainly if anyone has questions they can email me at the commish email, or hit me up here.. I really don't care if my thread, or this one becomes the smack talk forum wink

OH!!

And if there's enough interest and we have enough fun with it.. I may start a 'keeper' league next year for my MB pals.

Yeah.. I know.. but I'm not sure it's reasonable to ask people to be online for it.. much less trek out to Indiana for a draft party..

Though.. if everyone is game.. I'll crank up the grill, get some local brews, and the music one weekend and we'll gather around the whiteboard.

Seriously.. I figure the auto draft would be the 'fairest' way to do this.

I can change it to a live (online) draft though if that's the consensus.

I like the live draft, but since we are presumably probably all in different time zones... I'm guessing that autodraft is probably easiest, rather than trying to coordinate a time that people aren't sleeping, working, or eating during...

And, hey, if you're invitin' me Jamesus... we'll I'll come over and crash your little Indy party-- just like I did the last time I was in your city!! (and your fans can be VERY angry when you lose! I had quite a few people cuss me out!)

In all honesty, Indianapolis is nice... even if I was only there for a few hours. And it was nice to be in a dome rather than freezing my butt off for a game wink Although that does make you all far less hardcore wink

Hey E.. I just love football.. got nothin against the Squeelers.. but all football lovers are welcome to hang in front of the big screen and munch gourmet popcorn, some of my famous ribs, chops, and brats this winter.. the grill gets nice and hot regardless of how much snow is on the ground, and I'll have a firepit going out back.

I've never really seen Indy fans get too out of place with visiting fans/teams... though Patriots, Jags, and Steelers games are probably the most perilous... we love our rivalries, and the Pats & Steelers rivalry goes way back to the OLD AFC East..

My neighbor is a Packer fan.. so at least everyone has someone to pick on.. he gets us back on Saturday though as I'm a Purdue fan and he's a Michigan guy.. it all works out.. we just love our football.

But seriously.. all season long, the sunday afternoon/evening ritual is a football party at my house (at least now that it's MY house.. WW wouldn't let me have many friends over at once.. hated helping to clean up when it was just us.. nevermind a bunch of folks yellin at my TV smile ).. and it is, as always KID FRIENDLY at my house.

ETA.. not that I ever really expect anyone to show up.. just that it's GOING to happen this year... and next year... and the year after..

I missed being able to have friends over smile
