My husband and I got married in July. He's always been very close to his friends (they all work together). It just seems to me that he has a great deal more fun with them than when he's with me. He constantly wants to be with them, and he works 50 hours a week so I don't get to see him as much as his friends do. He insists that nothing is wrong, and that sometimes he just wants to go golfing or something with his friends instead of being around me "all the time". Now, we just got married so I was assuming we should still be in the "honeymoon stage", but it's actually been the opposite. I was thinking that maybe because he's the first of any of his friends to get married that he was trying to show them that he could "still hang" with them. It just hurts my feelings. I knew how important his friends were to him before we got married (he told me that they were like his family and that he cares for all of us the same) but it's always bothered me. I'm not sure if I'm being to sensative, but it can't keep going on like this. I feel like whenever he's home we argue or bicker. And that he has so much more fun when he's not with me. I don't think this is normal. Does anyone have any comments or advice for me? Thanks.

"I knew how important his friends were to him before we got married (he told me that they were like his family and that he cares for all of us the same) but it's always bothered me."

This should have been a big, red flag. He cares for all of you the same? You are his wife and life partner, not one of the guys.

You are very early in marriage to start having problems with spending little time together. Keep reading all of the stuff here, and you can change and he will have to change also.

I suggest you post on the emotional needs forum, where you will get much more help on how to address this issue.

How long did you know him before the two of you married?

You also might want to get the book "The One", or "Buyers, Renters, and Freeloaders". Pep has a thread about it (to all the lurking givers) on the General Questions forum.

Thanks for the advice. I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that he's the first out of all his friends to get married. I guess I'm hoping that he'll start to settle down a little more once his friends start growing up. We've known each other for about 2 1/2 years.

I'm new to the board, and I'm not sure how to move the post to the "Emotional Needs" thread. Help?

Just copy and paste it.

And be sure to read about Buyers Renters and Freeloaders on the General Questions forum. It is vital information to know.

You want to start your marriage out right, and not sacrifice to make him "happy". But you don't need to be a B*tch about it.
