This storm has become a major pain in my [censored], which is right where it's headed.
We're evacuating the field office today, which is in the Port of Iberia, which had 8 feet of water for Rita.
We're boarding up the main office tomorrow.
Then maybe I'll have time to board up my house and run for my life.
Wish me Luck

Hey BC, when I worked down in your neck of the swamp and earlier on the Texas Gulf Coast, I was part of the Civil Defense apparatus in both places. I understand exactly what you are going through. It was the dang snakes that scared me the most.

Not that I want to get hurt or suffer damage, but I wouldn't mind if it hit Houston. Something about these kinda things brings families closer together. Maybe.

It was the dang snakes that scared me the most.
Larry I work with a cowgirl from south of Abbeville. She told me after Rita, they were out on horseback in flood waters checking the heards and snakes were trying to climb up the horses. I've also got some pretty cool pics of snakes after Katrina. They just want to get high and dry like everything else. If they come by me, they're dead. I hate snakes.

HI guys, BC I thought about you earlier and then I saw the thread...I'm super stressed about the strom also...this is the 1st hurricane that I will be facing without XWH...so needless to say that I have to board up the house and take care of everything by myself...plus I ahve the boys with me this weekend, THANK GOD for small favors...
I'm looking for help to board up now...then XWH let two sheets of plywood rot outside while the kids and I were not there, so I'm minus wood for two of my windows...but have no fear JOAT WILL figure out something...

Rin,,,,how close are you to the coast? Do you have some support you can call on to help with that boarding up? I know you are very handy, but with that kind of project another set of hands is great. Someone from group? Someone from work? Someone from your charity organization?

Wow. Thanks for the head's up, BC! I didn't know we had one so near. I never watch the news and no one around me has mentioned it for some reason. Guess it hasn't quite gotten to the "hunker down" stage which is a big guffaw around here, especially when Wayne Dolcefino gets out in it! LOL!
