And Hannah is on her way on the tail end. Headed for East Florida and Georgia. All of you in that area, including my husband and new neighbors, please take heed.

Prayers to the people in the path of Gustav. It makes me sad because they have hardly recovered from Katrina. God be with you.

95% of the population of New Orleans has been evacuated, Gulfport is being evacuated as well.
All that's left in New Orleans (my husband's beloved city) is first responders, media and the National Guard.
I feel so, so bad for those people.
Go gas up folks, because we don't know how this will effect the price of gas. In a presidental election year Bush will probably dip into the SPR, but there are many offshore oil rigs and on shore refineries that are about to sustain major damage, and that have been evacuated and production shutdown....so Oh not to mention the under water infrastructure.
Go gas up, just in case the price of gas skyrockets.

kudos, kudos, kudos to the Mayor of New Orleans, and the Gov too.
They had buses ready to take those without cars or money for gas to safety. They brought birds and small pets aboard the buses with them.
The big dogs and such were evacuated as well, in semi tractor trailors behind the buses, so all would go to the same place.
Awesome, organized evacuation success!
Pleae those, let the levis hold down there, so the city is not wiped out after all that rebuilding.

Well you were one letter closer than me, BigKahuna... but still not close enough!!!!! Thanks for knowing how to spell, Believer. So far so good, eh? Looks like there holding. I haven't had a chance to check the weather station lately, but I hope the rest of LA and MS don't sustain too much flood damage, either.

Thanks Jo, but my family isn't in harms way. P left to go back to her dad's for the school year and she is doing outstandingly well. She did so well in school last year and has been so helpful around here with me this summer and at her dad's with his two little ones, that I went and bought her one of those new Blackberry Smartphones for her fourteenth Bday (in a couple of weeks) It's the most outlandish thing I've for her but I remember well about perks and doing well, how people who do really well get perks. If she starts slacking at school, she will lose her new Blackberry, so I am confident that she will keep it up. My H is leaving Savannah tomorrow to come back up. Hannah is the one I'm worried about for Savannah. We bought that house down there, and I have to tell you we have the nicest neighbors. They watch our house and call my H all the time. You never saw people who like to talk about food so much. They call up and tell us exactly what everyone brought and ate at these neighborhood BBQ's they have...in detail. LOL They're talkers those southerners! Whew, that was long winded, hubby and those southernor's must be wearing off on me.

I talked to BC Friday night. He boarded up the house and went to Mississippi with his son to stay with his brother. He expected roof and fence damage. Houma sounds like it was hit hard. That's where BC's Momma is. I have not been able to get a hold of him yet. I will keep trying.

I just talked to BC. He is headed back home now. Neighbors told him things looked okay at his place. Houma is another matter. His Mom was with him in Mississippi but they can't return until Friday. She also heard that her home looks pretty good with just some minor damage. No word from Rin and how her house fared.

I'm home. The power's back on. I lost 3 shingles. The winds were just in the right dorection to spare me. Lots of damage in the area. I was very lucky. My parents and brother had siginficant damge to their roofs. Everybody in Houma's roofs were pretty much scalped. Shingles, ridge vents, whirly birds, and vent pipes caught he11.
They're not letting people back in Houma till Friday, so Rin's not going anywhere just yet. My family managed to sneak past the authorities so they're home. They have 2 8kw generators, so they'll be fine. Power's expected to be out for weeks.
I've been to Rin's house. I would expect her shed and covered area to be twisted all to he11. I'm sure she has siginficant damage to her roof also, hopefully things won't be too bad. Pray for her.
More tomorrow, It's been one he11 of a long weekend, but family and bud light kept me company, so I'm doing good, just exhausted.

Glad you're back home safe and sound, BC!
