Ok, finally over the past few months my H has not only seen the need for a new job, but now WANTS one!!! It was sort of an epiphany for both of us. Putting that aside, he feels like he has his bags packed but no place to go.
Other than the internet, how do you find jobs? He is looking for a company that will rep him. Someone who will look over his resume, critique it, change it and then sell him!!! Are there no agencies that do this any longer? We are on the East Coast and desperate to move forward.
Does anyone know of a reputable Executive Recruiting company that specializes in finding executive level jobs? He's currently an AVP for a very large firm but it's time to go!
Anyone?? Help...

Have you done a search for your city and 'executive recruiters'? They are few and far between, but they still exist. Also, for the internet, make sure you're signed on to The Ladders. It's an online search, but only for those who make in the six figures or are executive level.

Yes, we did the recruiters search and have come up empty. Where did they all go? And, the one's you do find primarily handle contract work or temps. As far as the Ladders, he has listed there. But, that too is impersonal. Maybe his resume stinks! How are you supposed to know? He's been at the same job and worked his way up from entry level to AVP in 21 years. Does this work in his favor or against him? REally, he just needs to consult with a person.

I used a company called Robert Half & Associates who is nationwide. They focus on several areas, finance, legal, technology, etc. They do contract and temp employment but I'm pretty sure they do matching. They will be geared more toward making their client happy (the company) as opposed to the employee/executive which is understandable since the company is the one that pays the bills.
I don't know of any companies that do the old-fashioned employee representative type searches anymore. There wasn't much money in it I guess.
