I am DEFINITELY going to purchase a Neti Pot; I think they sell them at CVS, Walgreens, or other drug stores.

I IRRIGATED the nasal passages last night, after a shower to wash off any pollen. It was an unholy mess, because I had to use a large syringe (it was all I had at my disposal). I took my Benadryl, and only had minor itching in my nose all night long. NO throat burning, runny nose, NOTHIN! I SLEPT hurray

(I think it was Dealan D that posted that and she is spot on!)

That's the first night in a week that I have slept comfortably and deeply.

Thanks to all who posted.

If you are a fellow sufferer of the dreaded allergies, get to irrigatin! wink

Okay, so I demanded an update before I saw this new thread. blush

I used to have trouble with allergies. There are nasal steroids that can be quite effective. I'm not sure whether any of them are OTC, but an allergist would be able to tell you. These aren't addictive--it's the Afrin types you have to be careful with.

I also had nasal irrigation recommended to me. This particular doc gave me a special fitting for a water pik that fit up against your nostril so that you could blast your nasal passages out. It was, um, intense. Not a long-term solution for me.
