I text the station and said that Dr Harley says everyone of us is wired for cheating and gave the web addy for MB. The announcers made fun of it but they did read it out

Brilliant, I love it.

Now all the scientists need to do is create a test for detecting the gene and make it available to the marrying masses.

Daters with marriage in mind can now make an informed choice.

I'm so relieved. faint

*pfft* I bet it was a man who "figured" this out.

Saying that though, it wouldn't surprise me if Ike had this particular gene (if it existed). The men on one side of his family aren't known for being faithful to their spouses, which I didn't know until after we married.

"Hey honey, I have this gene...it causes me to cheat, so you can't be mad at me." Convenient huh?

Yeah, there have been similar studies on serial killers. I don't think any of the results of the studies have made their way into court yet, though. There was an episode of Law & Order-Criminal Intent that covered it a little bit. A part of it, anyway.

Yeah, one day...one day...

Same thing with depression. Everyone TELLS you they understand that you have this disease because of some imbalance, but you keep being depressed for a while, keep getting on their nerves, believe me, the "UNDERSTANDING" ENDS real quick.

Like the article says, it could be helpful to know, because when you get restless, you can just tell yourself it's only your DNA.

Alcoholism runs in my sons' family - dad, uncle and grandfather. I think it has been helpful for them to know. Neither one drinks.

When I heard Matt Lauer on the Today show say that "It may be in some men's genes to cheat", I immediately thought "That is because they don't keep them zipped". And before someone thinks I am sexist, same applies to women. This sounds like one of those research studies that will be discredited in the future, but won't hit the news. In the meantime, it will provide plenty of 'excuses' to waywards.

It's genetic, huh?

Good. Let's test all children at birth, and keep all of the positive reults in a public database. smirk
