Praying for all of our Texans.

It looks really scary. Hope all of you have evacuated. I'm worried about people in Houston who can't evacuate.

I talked to BC a little bit ago. All is well for the big Cajun. 10-15 are gathered in a garage watching Ike with Bud Lights in hand.

This one looks bad folks. Stay safe.

Crud, might as well be in Wisconsin. Are your sure he didn't say Guiness, or something really cool like Mojito's? Or what is it I had last time I was there? Mint Julep? Like to dang near kill me. LOL

Hang on Texan's, were right there with you.

I'm on the northwest side of Houston (Cypress area for those that know the area). Been waiting for rain all day long - we laid fresh sod on Monday night...before Ike came out of the woodwork...but the grass desperately needs water. Looks like the wind is just now starting to kick up, but no rain yet.

Hopefully the power stays on - as of right now the news is reporting 450,000 in the Houston area have no electricity - and it will probably take at least several days for it to be restored.

Getting ready to go hunker down in the master bedroom closet with my husband, son, and two greyhounds...and hopefully get at least a little sleep.

WEll, we have lost our power south of Houston and there are lots trees down, fences down and some have scalped roofs. My ingenious husband has set up his laptop in his truck in the garage with his satellite card. love dat man!

The hurricane screamed through here for about 6 hours at real high intensity last night and now is down to about 35-40 mph winds with lots of rain. WE have had a lot of water get in even though this is a new house. I had no idea these things lasted this long. Hope my friends north of Houston are faring well..

I can't imagine going through anything like that. I thought our snow storms were bad, but they're like kids play compared to what ya'll face.

Striven, stay out of the bayou, I hear there are things like snakes and creepy crawley things in der.

Up here in Dallas, we're just starting to get rain. Pretty mild actually, but they say the storm's a-comin.

Also, you can see live stream of the area here: http://www.mogulus.com/htvhouma

We need help and FEMA's being an a$$...like normal... this is the worse we have ever been...and it's still coming...the wind's still blowing pretty hard...

I will B...I had to run to the store to get something really quick, checked on my aunt while I was out and came straight home...to scary to be away right now...they can put up a road block and say we can't go back in...

Nothing but the clothes on our backs like a lot of ppl...

We still have 12 to 24 hours of wind to go...and high tides on it's way...

Gosh, I should have thought to invite you to California BEFORE the tornado hit.....

FEMA DID step up after the wild fires here - I work with a guy that lost everything, and he got help right away.

What do you need?

Personally, I'm good compared to others...you should hear the horror stories...I still have to contact my ins. company so I can be denied...due to deductible...I don't have enough damage...are at least I don't think so, I was denied for Katrina and Rita...

But FEMA said that they would reimburse for evacuation costs and anything there after, like fuel to run the generator and from what I'm hearing they are saying no, we're not now...like most I used bill money to leave a mand. evacuation area...and the cost to run a generator...it's unreal...After four nites, I decided to drive to a friend's almost 2 hours away because it was cheaper...been out of work for two weeks now....suppose to go back monday...schools are suppose to reopen tues., but I can't see how that's going to happen...

As far as food water and ice...that was easy to access when we got back...so much easier than in the past....

It's just a mess...I think what we need more than anything is a scream for help to gov., we have been trying to get money to help us build better levees and save the waterlands my whole life and we keep getting turned down...so we rebuild with money out of our pockets...we are the red headed step child to New Orleans...even watching local channels, you hear New Orleans, New Orleans...but nothing about us...

I'm venting...LOL

Let us know if you suffer a lot of damage and need help at your house. My H is down that way a lot and is very, very good at handyman stuff.

I'm serious. Let us know if you need help of any kind. the rest of you, too.

Yes. Let us know - all of you. And let us know if you need a place to stay for a few months. My house is very humble, but I'm a great cook.

In San Antonio, not one drop of rain on the NE side.

Not one drop.

A little wind, but thats it....

I should be grateful.

My house is humble, and I burn everything I cook.

I LOVE San Antonio. Glad that things are good there. Maybe I should come down to your humble home and cook, since it is so much closer. I'll bring sleeping bags for all of the evacuees.
