About 10 years ago I read a novel about an affair. I can't remember the title or the author (really helpful, I know!)
I think it was called something like The Story of D (or H maybe).
Anyway, it's about a man who's wife is having an affair and eventually leaves him. The main things I remember are that the main characters are referred to by the first letter of their names only, and I think it might be set in France.
It gives a graphic emotional account of what it feels like to be betrayed and it's written from the husband's perspective.

I would really love to track this book down to give it to my XWH to read as I really would like him to get some perspective on how it feels to be on the receiving end of an affair.

I know this is a long shot. I have trawled the web, amazon, google to no avail. But I thought there might be a small chance that someone on here has read it and remembers the title!

Failing that, if anyone can suggest any other books or movies that might have the same impact I would be very grateful.

I don't know the book you are looking for but I found the film Unfaithful compelling shortly after I discovered my husband's A. Also, Emma Thompson captured the pain of a BS in Love Actually (it's one of those films where everybody's lives are linked - and maybe too British??) She finds a gift in her husband's pocket just before Xmas; a beautiful necklace. The instant awareness of his cheating is brilliant when, in front of her family, she eagerly opens her Xmas present and he has given her a CD, not the necklace she had anticipated. I ached for her as she had to stuff her grief and pretend nothing was wrong because it's the night of her children's Xmas performance. I do wonder how I might have viewed these films pre-affair. I have a starring role in every movie/TV program now involving adultery.
