Your counselor and I have been asking you for months what you are doing for YOURSELF. You are a good man, young and handsome, so get out there and start treating yourself well.

You're such a good person Believer... Thank you for that.

I've been doing stuff for me... just not stuff that's fun. The stuff I've been doing is self improvement stuff. Gym, house, finance... not really all that much fun...

I do need some fun in my life though... I think I'll teach my kids to how to make pork chops today ... then go fishing... and relax.

There is catch and release... and I do that.... but there are some fish that I just wont throw back. Mainly trout. I kept catching and freezing until I had a mess of them.... then I smoked them all... and shared with my shipmates...

It was awsome...

Did you use a smoker? I might invest in one, because we do so much fishing that the freezer is full. And it would be especially nice when we catch something big. Last time we fed our friends, my roommates, my sons' and their girlfriends for a week. We had fish for breakfast, lunch and dinner, fried, baked, in stew...............

The french quarter was o.k but after a while it got old. There was one perticular bar that my wife and I liked a lot because of the band... It was called the crazy corner and the band was The Jimmy Thibodeaux Band. http://www.myspace.com/jimmythibodeaux

One of the other things we liked to do was go to the festivals... there was a different festival every week...

It was just a different culture down there...

You know how I got my daughter to eat fish? I steamed some of that mild white fish (crap I forget what it's called but it's what they use to make immitation crab) in some parchment paper in the oven, chopped it up and we used toothpicks to dip it in melted butter. She loved it.

We have a smoker but have only used it for ribs.

Fish for breakfast, B. Yucky. In NO they have those fish omelets that taste like the nastiest, fishiest crud ever. Blech!

Anyway, sounds like a fun day. Teach 'em how to cook! I love that.

Fish for breakfast is delicious. I like trout, with eggs, fried potatoes (with onions and bell peppers), and black beans - all separate though, not in an omelet.

Yes I used a smoker... I marinated them in a fish brine overnight. You can buy it or make your own. Then I smoked them. It doesn't take very long for fish.

I had one of those grills that looks like a 55 gallon drum... and it had an offset fire box on the side...My WW took it with her when she left.

I'm going to get another smoker though... either an electric one or one that works with propane... They sell both of them at Home Depot and Lowes... They might even sell them at Wal-Mart.

The nice thing about the electric smoker is that you set it and forget it...The traditional smoker needs a litte more attention when you're cooking.

When I was in New Orleans I fried most of my fish. They sell fish fry and crawfish boil everywhere.

I love going to crawfish boils. There's nothing like eating spicey crawfish followed by an ICE COLD BEER...

My wayward wife...

Not so much... she said she wasn't about to suck head and eat tail....LOL

I'll look for an electric one. Sounds easier.

Then do you have to refrigerate the smoked fish?

You can google "smoked fish recipe" and find all sorts of information. Fish isn't consistent... it can be oily, or fishy... so there's different recipies for different fish...

I'd refridgerate it...

Here's a cheap electric smoker. I've seen several people use this one for turkeys, fish, pork, beef brisket...

Will do. I thought you were going to go out and have some fun today. What are we going to do with you?

I FORCED myself to go places. Let all my friends know that I wanted to get out. Started my own business, a garden, took up activities like exercising, church study groups, volunteered with the casualties from Fallujah, started walking several miles a day, and just got along with my life. I treated myself well, like I deserved to be treated.

What'd she say? Is she ready to do NC and all that, or is it just fog babble?

Sorry...

Chief's initiation was last weekend so I've been as busy as a one legged man in an a$$ kickin contest... I'm still getting caught up at work.

She sent me an email to tell me that something was wrong with my 21 year old step son. (Who's in jail in Texas) She wanted to call me on the phone and tell me but I said "NO" just tell me via email.

My step son was getting surgury and She thought I should know. And she suggested that I send him a get well card. She wanted to call me but I said no.

Then ... two days later she called my cell phone to ask about our health insurance.

Then... on Friday I get another email from her about the health insurance... I didn't answer that one...

I stayed on base from Friday through Sunday for initiation.

Then... on Friday night I got a strange phone call from WW's sister. I haven't heard from her since early May and out of the blue she called. She said she just called because she hasn't heard from me for a while and was wondering how I was doing.

I told her where I was and what I was doing and she said... "Oh well I'll let you go" I said... "That's O.K. I can talk" So we chit chatted for about another minute and she said she had another call from her son in Iraq and she would call me another time. so I let her go.

After I hung up I started to wonder if my sister-in-law was just calling to check up on me for my WW. As soon as she found out where I was and what I was doing she tried to get off the phone. Just seemed strange that she called on the only weekend that I've been away from home since I split up with my wife.

I just thought it was strange that about the time I was asking everyone how long they went without talking to thier wayward spouse ... out of the blue she contacts me.

I know I shouldn't have responded but I did...

As I was typing the previous post she sent me another email about the insurance.

I'm sure she can figure it out on her own... she's a big girl...

Who know's... maybe she's just using that as an excuse to try and talk to me.

Do you have a mediator?

If so, send her *one* reply reminding her that all communication needs to be through the mediator, unless she is ready to meet your conditions and work on the marriage.

She's getting her "fix" and reassuring herself that you're waiting in the wings.

Seriously, that is most laughable...I would have to say you are taking this better than I would....I would have been insulted....but then again I read into things too much....

Sorry but this just chapped my hiney the wrong way....
