I am not voting for Obama JUST BECAUSE he is BLACK. well, she did say she thought he was "hot" too. Perhaps that is helping to sway her vote. Hopefully not.

Mimi, and I hope you don't mind my clarifying this point, because it would be a tragic injustice to mislead folks into thinking it was Republicans, and not democrats who have a long, filthy history of racism. That would be a tragic injustice committed against conservatives.
As a life long democrat and descendent of first Klan Grand Wizard, confederate war General Nathan Bedford Forest, I could not, in good conscience, let such a false implication stand uncorrected. The injustice would be profoundly immoral, wouldn't you agree? I don't agree. The dixiecrats WERE blatant racists. However, when the rest of the democrats as the majority party at the time and a few Republicans came together to overide the filibuster and pass the Civil Rights Act of 1964 (which was SIGNED into law by then Democratic President, Lyndon B. Johnson)...the racists FLED the Democratic party. White racists TODAY are, most definitely, Republican voters. Our country and BOTH parties have a gross history of racism, however, the subset of our country TODAY that ARE still white supremist generally and undeniably, vote republican. One need only take a look at the where the "red states" are to discern which party comprises the most racists...TODAY. I read some interesting information earlier this year stating that Obama needed to lead in polls by about 5% or more to overcome the secret racist vote. I've stated before, Obama NEEDS a huge black turnout to hopefully make a dent in such. I contend that there are MORE white racist voters than black voters in this country. Also, once we have our first Black president, IMO, race won't be such an issue in future elections. One need only to look at the Catholic vote which overwhelmingly favored Kennedy (the first Catholic president) versus the Catholic vote for John Kerry (which, as I recall, split pretty much equally between Bush v. Kerry). On another note...which was the primary reason I decided to post. I just read an interesting article about the odd fact McCain has abandoned Michigan yet continues to campaign hard in states such as Iowa and Pennsylvania despite lagging more dramitically in the polls there. Link - McCain's campaign priorities. Well, all this talk of ACORN "stealing" the election by registering Mickey Mouse and other bogus names got me to thinking. "Registering" bogus names most likely won't ever result in fraudulent votes...however, corrupting voting machines [again] does. So why exactly is McCain still in Iowa??? Could it be that they still use a lot of Diabold voting machines??? Something to keep an eye on, perhaps. Blackvotingbox.com is. Mr. Wondering your posts are becomming some of the most humorous ones as it pertains to race and politics. I am shocked at how much spin and cr@p you throw out there hoping that some of it sticks. It really is sad coming from you Mr. W.

That would be a tragic injustice committed against conservatives. Tragic? You're making me laugh. Conservative Republicans have a fine tradition of race baiting, a subtle but effective form of racism. Ronald Reagan was a master. He delivered his first major campaign speech in Philadelphia, Mississippi, where three civil rights workers were murdered in the 1960s'. The topic? His support for "states' rights" — a code word for resistance to black advances clearly understood by white Southern voters. A great way to pander to disaffected democrats! (And why were they disaffected? Because the democratic party was changing and becoming more progressive racially.) And how about when Reagan got into office in 1981 and wanted to reverse the denial of tax-exempt status for those schools that practiced racial discrimination - specifically Bob Jones University, where interracial dating is still not allowed? How about the "welfare queen" described by Reagan in his failed bid for the White House in 1976? That term absolutely had perjorative racist connotations. As if welfare was ever a serious drain on the economy. And that's just Reagan. It's silly to argue that it's only the democratic party that has been guilty of racism. It's even sillier to hold up the Republican party as a paragon of virtue at the same time. Racism crosses party lines, particularly when there are votes to be had. Further, party ideology changes through the years - never mind through the centuries. To believe that today's Republicans are the idealogical descendants of Lincoln and that today's Democrats are all racist would-be Klan members is delusional.

That's just it, Medc. I try not to spend my time being sad or angry. I was trying to make a joke. I wish Sarah Palin would wear her hair down. I keep wondering why she keeps pulling up like that....

Even here on MB...is this REALLY the group of people you identify with? Really? Here you go. Are you saying that only CERTAIN PEOPLE are WELCOME on MBers? Are you saying that this is not a place where ALL PEOPLE who are victimized by INFIDELITY belong? This is what has been frightening me. Are you wanting to make this point, MEDC? that's not the point I made...and your over sensitive nature is not my concern....you can continue to twist all you like....it doesn't make your fears true.

Are you saying that this is not a place where ALL PEOPLE who are victimized by INFIDELITY belong? WHAT? I questioned Mr. W about who is aligning himself with as far as his political and moral beliefs. This is what has been frightening me. Get over it. What kind of website have I been so involved with all of these years...with some UNDERCURRENTS that I don't know about????? here we go...cry of the victim again.

Johnson)...the racists FLED the Democratic party. Not accurate at all. The "racists" did not flee the democrat party. The Republican Party did not have a majority until the 90's so it is ludicrous to assert that all the democrats jumped to the Republican party in 1964. Democrat senators, James Oliver Eastland [D-Miss], Klan Kleagal Robert Byrd, Richard Russell (D-GA), and most other democrats did not leave the party. And even if they HAD, it would not erase the democrats long, racist history and their long fight against civil rights. Saying someone fled the party does not change the facts. White racists TODAY are, most definitely, Republican voters. This is an unsubstantiated myth. White racists exist in both parties. The difference is that Republicans REPUDIATE racists; the Democrats REVERE them and call them the "conscience of the senate." [Klan Kleagel Senator Robert Byrd] You don't see Republicans REVERING DAVID DUKE and elevating him to a prized position in their party. Democrats have a history of INSTITUTIONAL RACISM. The Republicans do not. The democratic Party gave us the Ku Klux Klan, Black Codes, Jim Crow Laws and other repressive legislation which resulted in the multitude of murders, lynchings, mutilations, and intimidations (of thousands of black and white Republicans). During the Civil War on the issue of slavery: Democrats gave their lives to defend it, the Republicans gave their lives to ban it. And speaking of Acorn, I have been hearing some very troubling things about those folks. Seems Obama is very connected to this organization that is devoted to voter fraud: Barack Obama’s Campaign “Paid More Than $800,000″ To ACORN For Get-Out-The Vote Efforts; The Campaign Originally “Misrepresented” The Group’s Work To The FEC. “U.S. Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign paid more than $800,000 to an offshoot of the liberal Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now for services the Democrat’s campaign says it mistakenly misrepresented in federal reports. An Obama spokesman said Federal Election Commission reports would be amended to show Citizens Services Inc. — a subsidiary of ACORN — worked in ‘get-out-the-vote’ projects, instead of activities such as polling, advance work and staging major events as stated in FEC finance reports filed during the primary.” (David M. Brown, “Obama To Amend Report On $800,000 In Spending,” Pittsburgh Tribune Review, 8/22/08)

His support for "states' rights" — a code word for resistance to black advances clearly understood by white Southern voters. PK, there is not a thing in all your blathering about Ronald Reagan that demonstrates he is a racist. "Code words" indeed. What foolish rot. That is nothing more than shameless, unsupported, vicious slander that diminishes your credibility. Democrats lynched blacks in the south and you focus on imaginary racism based on secret "code words" only discernable to silly liberals with an agenda. How do you interpret the "code words" from these fine upstanding democrats?: "We will resist to the bitter end any measure or any movement which would have a tendency to bring about social equality and intermingling and amalgamation of the races in our (Southern) states."Senator Richard Russell (D-GA) "I shall never fight in the armed forces with a Negro by my side... Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds." Senator Robert Byrd Those are your boys, dear. One from the democrats "conscience of the senate." I don't think we need a "CODE" manual to interpret that, do we? Even so, no one claimed they were the same parties today, so that is a straw man argument. The discussion is about the PAST. What is silly is to deny the democrats racist past and to pretend that Republicans practiced institutional racism. That is a flagrant LIE and a sickening rewriting of history that dishonors HONEST democrats. Democrats have a history of INSTITUTIONAL RACISM. The Republicans do not. The democrats founded the KLAN. Sorry, but those are FACTS.

I certainly have not or WILL NOT be VICTIMIZED by you are anyone here. I would just leave. LOL..it's EASY to stop coming to a website. MY GOODNESS... and you crack me up too Mimi...with your broad assumptions and "I'm frightened" comments. I suggest you do a more thorough job reading the posts before jumping to fear or racism. It might serve you well and help you from being so afraid.

What has the Republican Party done more recently in regard to racial issues? What racial issue exactly?

This just seems so unlike you. What? Because I'm neither black nor poor you are suprised I am a Democrat? lol It's pretty simple. 1. Conservatives can't run a large government, which they internally lament, efficiently. 2. "Strict constructionalist" and "State Rights" is a pretense to mob rule, to be exploited by any given majority at any given time in any given place be they racists, conservatives, liberals, religious, etc.. I appreciate MY "liberty" being protected by the Supreme Court. 3. I used to be a Republican (prior to Clinton) and was gravely disappointed. The entire Bush family's personal associations with Saudi Royalty and other middle eastern leaders is far more alarming than Bill Ayers could ever be. 4. IMO, our country would NOW be much better off if Gore and/or Kerry had won in the past. I just can't see how individuals that made such a huge blunder with their votes in 2000 and 2004 can be so indignant about their political views today. You weren't right then...what makes you so sure about your position today? 5. There are MORE democrats like me than you think. For the last 10 years I've had to keep my political leanings mostly to myself as my Republican friends and Republican family were rude and boisterous in their attempts to shame me about my politics. I'm sick of it. There are certainly persons in my party that I don't agree with about MANY things. Religion being one of them. I am a moderate. I am a Christian. However, overall, I think the Republican party has lead us down a shamefull path and they are getting what they deserve....voted out of power and influence so we can actually have an effective government. I believe I am likely to someday switch back to the Republican Party when it sheds it's intolerant ideology and comes up with a plan to govern versus sitting on the sidelines and hoping to get lucky. Republicans have put to much of their faith in Corporations. Corporation have no soul and can't be trusted. Further, fundamental Christians won't AlWAYS be the majority in this country. If "we" give away too much power...it will come back against "us" two-fold, when we no longer represent the majority. 6. In general, the Republican Party, IMO, turns people AWAY from Christianity. 7. I certainly don't think poorly of any of my Republican friends. I respect their opinions and beliefs. You are all still my friends...I hope (and I find it a shame that I even have to hope).
