I live in a small town about an hour SW of Chicago. I early voted tonight, and I had to wait a half hour!! Amazing. I usually am the only one there. Myself and some dedicated Senior Citizens. I feel soo American!!! My son went out to Springfield last year when Barack announced. Froze his butt off!! Me and my Daughter had a front row seat at the Debate at Soldier Field last August!! Sat right behind Keith Oberman's big head!! Whole family went to Springfield to see him announce Biden. My town. The home of EX-Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert!! Could go BLUE!!!!! Only in America!!!! Change is coming!!!!!

I early voted, too, Sunday. 2 hours, but that's okay, I'm glad I have the opportunity. I live in South Florida, and am hoping they count my vote LOL. That's the chance I take

I voted Friday afternoon. I work half days Friday, so it was easier to vote then than on a full work day. Our state set a new state record for early voting this year.

My dilemma is this - - I have voted in several presidential elections.....but I can't remember ever voting for a winner. I can't believe I have ended up needing to choose between two major party candidates whom I have renamed "Unh-uh" and "No Way" . I can't believe the voters of the United States gave me these two slates from which to choose. This is ridiculous. I can't really support either one of them. So, going on the premise that my choice is NOT going to win, what do I do? I have figured out which candidate is the least unacceptable. Do I vote for him knowing I have never voted for a winner?

Well, Cinderella, if you DON'T vote at all, you certainly won't be voting for the winner, anyway. And, in your case, voting AGAINST the guy you KNOW you DON'T want to win is what I would do. You never know...your one vote might make the difference!

Hi Cinderella
You are experiencing the frustration of the very mature democracy.
You can vote for any one of two candidates, neither of whom you fully support.
I would only say that even if you can't decide who to vote for, at least go to the booth and spoil your voting slip.
That gives your opinion, yet doesn't betray the folks who gave their lives in support of democracy.

Tomorrow morning I will VOTE EARLY for OBAMA and pray that he WINS the election!!
I listened INTENTLY to the TV broadcast the other night and DO AGREE with and SUPPORT his platform...
It is TRUE that POLITICS can be extremely DIVISIVE..another SURPRISING LESSON learned by me on MBers...
Come to think of it, in all my years, I've never really gotten to know many Republicans or "conservatives"... and never would have guessed that there are so many here...didn't even cross my mind until now...
It's AMAZING to me how folks REALLY think about things..so different than I would have expected...
I OWN that it's my own naivete and lack of involvement in POLITICS..
Further PERSONAL GROWTH..
I made it happen..a joyful life..filled with peace, contentment, happiness and fabulocity.

Can you vote on a Saturday?
I was gonna vote early, but my kids' school is doing their own voting awareness thing with the kids, and they encourage the parents to take their kids to vote with them and the kids get to fill out a kid's ballot at the same time as the parents fill out a grown-up ballot.
Maybe with everyone voting early, there won't be any lines on actual voting day!
BTW some group (Scholastic Books? Weekly Reader?) does a poll with the kids every presidential election, and so far the kids have accurately predicted the winner every time. This year I think Obama won.

Sat right behind Keith Oberman's big head!!
*********************************** LOL That is one big head...
Last winter, (way back in the primaries...I still thought Hillary was going to win) my DS had me take him to an Obama rally so he could write about it for the HS newspaper....it was cold and snowy/rainy and miserable and we were waiting outside for 3 hours and I just couldn't take it any longer....he ended up interviwing and writing about all the interesting and diverse people waiting in line.....and all the voter registators that were there LOL...that's really funny NOW. I don't know if they were Acorn or not....but, they were all over the place and even offering rides to voters. I wonder just how historical that article will end up being.

Hi Mimi,
I haven't been around much lately but I have been thinking about you. IT really Is amazing how different people think...even within the parties....I grew up in a very mixed and VOCAL political family in the Northeast. As a young adult, I was always trying to figure out whose opinions I valued more and why... and weigh what political topics were of most interest to me. But, like you, I always hated the divisiveness. (I am sure a lot of that has to do w/ my birth order and personality type) I found it particularly interesting when I moved around the country as an adult and realized how different a Massachusetts liberal is from a California liberal....and HOW very different a conservative from Massachusetts is from a conservative in Central Pennsylvania (beleive me, I would have been offended by Obamas comment about clinging to guns and religion if I hadn't lived there.....having lived there,I feel like I understand what he was trying to convey). And then there was Kansas, which was very conservative, yet very progressive. Politics can bring out the best and worst in people.
I am glad you voted and that you feel validated... you deserve that.
