All of this has been so degrading and horrible. One of the worst things, going to my Dr and telling them why I needed every STD test possible. So here I am almost 2 wks later, and I havent heard. I thought I would have heard something by now. Am I the only one that finds this awful? I really thought that I wouldnt have to do this after I got married. Its just one more thing that drains me.

2 years or 2 weeks?? I too got tested for same, when i went for annual exam at OB-GYN. The shocking thing for me was the nurse comforting by stating, Honey we hear it all the time, you are not the first and we'll test to put your mind at ease. I was supposed to get a call when results were in but it was almost a week due to waiting for doctor's signature or something to that effect. I actually wonder how long to test again just to make sure that I didn't test too soon, if that makes any sense. When I told my WH that I was getting tested, he was upset at first, because it reminded him of the hurt he caused me by having A. I also asked him to get tested, due to the info he had relayed about OWs spouse-before I knew about A.

In the military, when guys get tested/treated it's called getting bore punched or something to that effect. Now if that had been WH experience here after the A, it would have made my day....

Doctor's only contact you if results are positive. At least that was my experience. Anyone else?

When I got tested, no news was good news.

Why haven't you just picked up the phone and called? If you're still worried because you haven't heard, that's what I would do. I think the other posters are right though, most docs won't call unless there's something to report.

It is 2 weeks. She told me she would call me regardless,but you know how that goes. I will call today. It wasnt just STD tests, so I am worried about other things too. You know, what else could go wrong, oh yeah everything!

Oh! I thought you meant it had been 2 years since you took the test! My mistake. Sorry. But definitely call just to give you some peace of mind.

I work in a lab in S.A and we also do a standard STD screen which covers all STD's.
Your results are out in 2 days and printed to the Dr. who then phones the patient.We are unable to give the test results directly to the patient due to ethical reasons...also often the patient can't interpret the results themselves.Sometimes patients will phone us to say the Doc doesn't have their results and we fax them directly to the doc. and tell the patient to phone the doc back in 5 mins!!!
Its bad practice if your doctor is not phoning you...don't assume everythings ok...His got your money, maybe his not a caring doctor...
You have every right to phone your Dr and find out.....don't ever put doctors on a pedestal....they only human!!!
Note I work for a private pathology practice...government labs here take longer with results.

I've just realized if my WH comes home and we go for tests,I'd have to use our opposition lab as I wouldn't want work colleagues coming across my specimens!(I have an unusual surname that will by noticed straight away!)

I called but it was late this afternoon. I have a bad habit of getting sidetracked at work. Anyway, I left a message for them to call me back tomorrow. I do feel that my Dr. is caring which is why I travel past so many others to get her. I did have to use an outside lab because I was dehydrated the day of my appointment and they didnt want to keep jabbing me. I hadnt called up till now because I was getting cholesterol, thyroid, diabetes, then the lovely, HIV, and hepatitis etc. Anyway, I will try not to worry. Oh since I havent slept with my husband since May, the Dr told me that should be good, but for safety should really get it done again in 3 months.

Well I got them, and they were fine. In fact my blood sugar and cholestrol were awesome, so I am pretty happy.

Yeah I was glad about those too, I mean those would be "my fault" . Something did show up in my blood, but under the circumstances and all the worst case things that it could have been, I am "ok" Oh I got my anti depressants too. They called it in for me.

Oh good, anti-D's really helped me. And I only took them for about 7 months, but they did the trick - helped me deal with everything. Mine took 21 days to kick in, but on day 21 I woke up and felt fine.

Yeah when the Dr talked to me she told me that the first week I might feel slightly weird but if I had any real bad days let her know. She also said 3-4 weeks before I see a difference. I had to get something. I cant take the anxiety, especially in my dreams.
