These threads calling back a person that has made a decision to leave are at best, silly.

That's your opinion MEDC. I disagree. It's called reaching out to a friend that may be hurt.

Cool...we can disagree.

I would share your view if these "goodbye cruel world" posts hadn't become the norm around here. There are a few posters that are constantly posting about leaving...yet, they never quite do. To me, that is just a ploy for sympathy.

Just my opinion.

Let's give Mimi credit for being a fully-fledged adult, mature and of reasoned judgment about what she believes. This being the case, she doesn't have to run or hide from unpleasant discussions. She can AND may simply choose to disengage, by which I mean not just not "talking" about it, but not even reading the ongoing discussion, thereby running the risk of being tempted to join in again. (It worked for me!!)

She is smart enough, tough enough, experienced enough to decide what she wants to do here, and IRL as well. I'm sure of it.

Well I hope Mimi comes back. I think she was treated unfairly.

My other hope is she's not here because she's still trying to get through her carton of champagne! hurray

I DO agree with this. In fact, it's quite comical in some cases when I read... I'm leaving... No, I'm really leaving... THIS TIME I'm leaving... and the best one yet, I'm posting but I'm not really back. grin

But seriously MEDC, I really felt bad for Mimi, not because I necessarily agreed 100% with her perception about what others were saying, but I understood it.

I HONESTLY miss her posts. Just as I miss yours when you don't post for a few days. You both are unique and valuable to this board, even though you're both usually at opposite ends of the pole.

MEDC,

Come on, dude...

Just apologize.

A black member of our community was offended by your posts. She obviously found them racially offensive and, frankly, so did I.

If you are not a racist, as you claim, then you'd clearly apologize for perceived racists remarks. I trust this perception is not the way you intend to win arguments.

Mr. Wondering

p.s. - I apologize Mimi if I said anything offensive or if I failed to defend you enough. I tried. I don't always agree with you either but I'd hate to see you leave.

I've always respected Mimi's posts....she is so passionate about helping people recover on MBers, even though she doesn't have to.I don't know the situation regarding the posts about racial comments....I don't ever stop to think what race the person is that I chat to..what difference does it make????

I am a white South African and like to think of myself as not racist.I am proud to say that I'm a South African, although I am not proud of our apartheid years....Our country is a beacon of light to the rest of the world on how to accept each other ...

I find it sad that in a country like America where there has been no discimmination by law for many years, that it still exists? You are a first world country that others look up to...

I don't mean to tread on toes, just giving my opinion .....

unfortunately this "perception" has been thrown around for quite some time. We have been on the same side of race discussions and Mimi considered me an ally at that time. I do not tolerate racism from anyone and it seemed that when I called blacks on their racism it became a problem. Racism is ugly in all people...black, white, yellow, green and red. I call it by its true name, no matter the offender.

Wow MEDC, I didn't even mention racism.

I don't think you could have read HopenPray's post (which was one minute before yours) who DOES mention racism and then typed your reply to me. Why play games by posting that "ignore" thingie? It's obvious you read Mr. W's post and THAT's who you were replying to.

Only one comment about this: I agree. I detest racism too... even more so since I now have two beautiful bi-racial grandchildren.

But we're not talking about racism in this thread. Please don't go there.

I'm talking about another forum member who was hurt... regardless of the subject of the posts or who was to blame.

lol...it's funny how he only points this out when I post directly to him, otherwise he has no trouble commenting.

bawk....bawk, bawk, bawk
bawk....bawk, bawk, bawk

Since MEDC can't see this I thought I'd let everyone know he's really a softy at heart that religously watches One Live to Live, eats pink cotton candy and adores walks in the rain. His sign is Capricorn, but don't let that fool you, he's really just a teddy bear.

Mr. Wondering grin

ummm...it may not be about that to you...but since Mimi's last post was re-posted here several times and that WAS the topic of that post, the issue of her PERCEPTION is certainly discussing racism.

Let's not pretend it isn't.

And actually, no, I choose to not read Mr. W's posts.

Honestly, actually posting that you are ignoring someone in this way is the board equivalent of sticking your fingers in your ears and screaming "la, la, la, la, la, la"...

Nice...

I also hope Mimi comes back...She HELPS so many here with the MB program...It will be a tragic loss to this community if she chooses to stay away...

:twobyfour:

People.....behave.

:twobyfour:

I thought this thread was an inquiry about Mimi and to find out if anyone had heard from her. I thought the goal was to entreat her to post.

Instead, y'all have let it deteriorate into a free-for-all.

Personally, I've been edited by the moderators when I didn't think I had violated the TOS. And I have notified them about posts I found personally insulting and had the mods tell me to get over it and that no TOS had occured although I was, truly, insulted and thought the post disrespectful.

But, through all that, I have real friends here.

hugMimi has helped me become a better person. I wish she would return. hug

prayNow, in order to make that happen, it would help if you people would get a grip and figure out how to be kinder, gentler people.

Mrs. W. I will not get in a ***edit*** match with you. Your husband knows I do not wish to post to him...or him me. I simply lost any desire to converse with him based on some of his statements. I am certain that Mr. W has many great qualities. His views, as stated, impact me in a fashion that makes it better for me to keep him on ignore.

And yes, it is the equivalent of that. I care to not hear what he has to say. Thankfully the owners of this site afford the ability to make this choice by offering the ignore feature.

Medc, you are not helping the goal of this thread. Besides, one would think that you might be speaking of yourself.
