With thanks to all of you who already had your glasses on when I needed help. Thank YOU for the wake-up call! Now where'd I put those darn glasses?

This thread reminds me of a line in a movie I watched the other night for the first time. "Nell" about the girl who grows up in the woods with her disabled mother, and who lost her identical twin sister at a very young age. Her mom died also, leaving her virtually alone in the world.
At the end of the movie, in court, she said to Liam Neilson (sp), who was worried sick about what would happen to her -
quote "I have no sorrow greater than yours"
I'm serious, this line was one of the most profound I have heard in months. It helped me to realize that although I lost my little brother and parents, and I go through my pity party routine about once a month - I have no sorrow greater than anyone elses.
It's so true. And so important to remember when we interact with other people. One kind word can mean so much. One kind word can lift someone's loneliness for a moment, and sometimes that moment is all it takes to change their entire day to a good one.
Thanks for the reminder, Neak.

It was, ahem, an eye-opener for me, too. (Groan - I couldn't help myself.)
It's so easy to forget that every person you see has burdens that no one could guess. Jesus looked at everyone with His glasses on, and wants us to learn how to do that, also.

My mom found it and sent it to me. I have to give credit where credit is due.

Don't give ME credit. I found it in my email, though I can't remember who sent it. How would I stay irritated at everyone if I had a pair of glasses like that?

Not really, Neak. But I heard something a long time ago about looking at each person like you were looking into the eyes of Jesus.
I have a lot of faults, but have been blessed with the gift of empathy.

One day, as usually, an orphan, a little girl, stood at the street corner begging for food, money or whatever she could get. Now, this girl was wearing very tattered clothes, was dirty and quite disheveled.
A well-to-do young man passed that corner without giving the girl a second look. But, when he returned to his expensive home, his happy and comfortable family, and his well-laden dinner table, his thoughts returned to the young orphan. He became very angry with God for allowing such conditions to exist.
He reproached God, saying, "How can you let this happen? Why didn't you do something to help this girl?"
Then he heard God in the depths of his being respond by saying "I did. I created You."
